What do you do in real life? (A Noncontroversial Time Waster)

After getting out of the Army, I finished up my IT degree in college. Afterwards I started helping a family member with failing health. Group of friends got together and started a creative group. I've done a bit of voice acting for a small time radio drama and currently working on another project to help an author with a voiced drama based on a new work. I'm also working on a game development project that hopefully will help market another book series by the same author.

Well, perhaps not in a strictly literal sense, but I do farm wheat (and other crops) for a living.

Currently I run the IT "department" at a Continuing Care facility (quotes because I'm the only one in the department at the present point in time >.>). On the side I work with a band doing sound mixing and I'm a Twitch mod during the evenings for a steamer.

IT specialist, used to work hands-on with SCCM a lot but I do more planning and project-based work these days. Went to university last year with the goal of becoming a nuclear engineer and building commercial LFTRs, but it turns out not having opened a maths book for seven years is a significant disadvantage. Also, most current gen IV engineers tend to spend a lot of time writing bitter blog posts about politics instead of actually building advanced reactors. Because of this, I went back to my old job... for now.

Have you always been dry lab? I used to be wet lab but now I'm purely computational and the switch has been pretty rough XD

Nah, my undergrad degree was purely wet lab oriented, and I did my PhD as a wet lab person.. Asked my PI if I could take some programming courses for fun (long time linux hobbiest), and got introduced to the world of bioinformatics. I actually applied to do a master's in bioinformatics and was told it'd be a bad fit since I didn't have a CS degree. I still do get to do some wet lab things from time to time, which can be nice.
