    I mean they're judging news that has been released officially, many people were hoping there would be many changes throughout the foundation of the game, that sadly isn't entirely the case. For instance, the weekly lockout and only two classes this expansion, these are things people can legitimately point at and say they're unhappy with. They're two huge reasons in my eyes that might make the expansion a little less desirable in the long run, does that mean I'm totally unhappy, no. But is there plenty new to off set those revelations? Yes there is.

    Complaints about mechanical things like loot lockouts or the basic core systems of the game in general got old 3 years ago though. An Expansion pack expands the content of a game, it doesn't completely rewrite the fundamental core of the game. Yet the OP and many others seem to think that it somehow can and should do just that, when it simply wasn't on the table at all.

    It's like crying about the cadence of patch content updates.

    I honestly think that what it generally comes down to is that some players have the expectation that FFXIV will be like other games that they like, instead of a thing unto itself. I think anyone doing that would be better coming to terms with ffxiv as it is.

    I'll just say this. Crying and whining actually helps. Atleast it is a way to do and change something, rather than sitting and being frustrated.
    Oh and to those calling others not to be salty and crying;

    Have fun farming your endless tomestone for the next 2 years.

    No Problem. I don't farm content.

    Tell that to Cataclysm.

    An Expansion pack does whatever a dev team says it does and can realistically accomplish.

    And then when those changes come people will bitch and say they miss the old way of doing things.

    Remember "waaaaaah raids are too easy!!!" Then it became "waaaaah raids are too hard!!!". You'll never please people. Better off just staying the course.

    That's because Blizzard's devs should have ignored the people complining about stuff being too easy. The instances getting steamrolled were heroics tuned around quest/dungeon blues, and those complaining were running those in ToC/ICC epics instead. It'd be like running Praetorium in Final Coil of Bahamut gear and complaining that it's too easy.

    Dungeon tuning shrunk the number of people able to clear content, with tanks and healers deciding to get off group finder and instead running heroics with guild members.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    Actually, expansions are a GREAT time to rework game systems. For one, it gives you a long time to develop and expand on changes and ensure that it fits into the game as a whole. For another, releasing sweeping changes packaged into an expac adds value to purchasing the expansion - critical when prices are so high as it is. Rather than feeling like you're just being charged for a slightly larger than normal patch when you buy an expac, you feel as though you're paying into a dramatically better game.

    It also provides great marketing opportunities to lure in lost or new players.

    Not if it's just for the sake of reworking the systems.

    It wouldn't be, as there are several systems that could use some pretty big overhauls - mentioned previously.
