How in the world can a story in far away Othard realistically have anything to do with a story set here in Eorzea?

We share a common enemy and have been working with Othardans... ians?... already. Either way, what else would you expect? They can certainly continue to add zones to Eorzea, but it's basically an inevitability that we'll push outward eventually if the game lasts long enough.
