Glad to see we finally have concrete locations for Old Sharlayan and Thavnair.
Doma was supposedly razed to the ground, but the places we're going to are outside the Doma marked on the map, Kugane is to the east of Doma in an island, Yanxia is to the north of Doma and Azim Steppe is to the northwest
So Yugiri's Doma might not be accessible.
Also between Doma and Kugane there's this thing underwater
That underwater place might be a safe haven for the Doman resistance, or might be where Doman survivors who didn't join Yugiri ended up.
I'm looking at the art they showed at the end and trying to speculate a bit. Most of the characters are probably characters from the Far East we will meet when we end up over there trying to free Doma. The only two I would say clearly are Ala Mhigan are the Girl in Red who I feel pretty confident is Yda and Raubahn. Zenos is there obviously. I am wondering who the other character that the top is though. At first I thought it was one of the Twins but I am not sure and it appears to be both a woman and wearing plate armour.
Regardless, for Zenos to be the villain in both areas I think he will either seize power from his father or his father will place him in a role of greater importance. I am kind of leaning towards the first. I can see a scenario after the end of the Waring Triad where we seem to have a tentative opportunity to actually come to some kind of accord with the emperor only to have his son assassinate him and blame us for the death, taking the throne and fully mobilising Garlemald. Plus if we then kill Zenos, it would then leave a power vacuum we would likely have to do something about to keep Ilsbard falling into chaos and war.
I have to admit this bothers me. I am really looking forward to Ala Mhigo and this makes me worried it will get sidelined so we can focus on Doma. Assuming we have roughly the same number of zones we can probably at least allocate 4 to Doma assuming they only add what they have already shown.

I feel like Othard will be the one sidelined until ~4.3, at least to me it makes more sense to give the Eorzean chapter a proper closure before we go full focus on Othard/Ilsabard.
Here's a map that someone on Discord is working on. Lots of good translations for the new areas.

I don't really like the idea of Varis being killed off. Betrayed by his son, perhaps, and imprisoned as a result? Sure. I think that would be much more interesting and allow for us to strike a deal with Garlemald as a whole - because dismantling it entirely would make for a dull story. It would also mean that Regula essentially died for nothing given that his relationship with the Emperor the circumstances of his demise and his final words left a pretty great point for both Varis and the Scions to work something out.
We need some Garlean characters loyal to Garlemald but open to negotiation to stick around in the long run. I sincerely hope we get to see some throughout 4.0 and they won't just be killed off the moment they show their good side. That's become a common problem with the antagonists lately - and it's particularly grim when we end up seeing the same handful of protagonists emerge largely unscathed at every turn. I swear, if Papalymo ends up coming back from the 'dead'...

As I said earlier, assuming we have the same number of zones as HW they would have to have shown us everything we will be seeing in Doma in the Live letter or Ala Mhigo will have less areas than Othard. If we include the city Othard has 4 zones shown. Ala Mhigo has one shown so far and assuming Ala Mhigo is another that currently gives us two. HW had 7 zones total including Ishgard itself.
Come to think of it, we entered Ishgard very early on in 3.0. That made sense since it's the major city for the expansion. That, to me, makes me assume 3.5 is going to end very badly and we won't be going to Gyr Abania immediately. Perhaps we'll be beaten back (as we should, since tackling Garlemald shouldn't be easy) and return later on after we've headed to Othard instead.
Or maybe there will be two new cities - one in Gyr Abania and another in Othard. One could very well be much bigger than the other, after all. One could even just be the equivalent of Revenant's Toll or Idyllshire.
So..Azim Steppes.
wonder if the Xaela Tribes there will recognize Xaela PCs.
would be a nice touch.
