I was a career red mage in FFXI. Excited though I am that the job is coming to FFXIV, there are stronger in-game reasons for Lyland to go samurai. #thanksYoshiP

Wasn't Doma destroyed, though? or am I not remembering what Yugiri said? It has been awhile since I watched the 2.2-2.X cutscenes.

Wasn't Doma razed to the ground? Which is what I remember Yugiri saying back in the 2.x questline.

Maybe Yugiri meant it was as good as destroyed for the refugees. Or maybe we're just going to reclaim the ground it was on and help the Domans rebuild.

But where's Eorzea's equivalent of the Indian subcontinent? It's been nuked out of existence!

I'm going to be pretty disappointed if a rag tag band of rebels manages to beat back Garlemald and liberate both Othard and Gyr Abania with minimum effort. Especially if they're just painted as villains and easily dealt with like in the cinematic. I hope they deliver on 'moral greyness' and give us many more Regula type Garleans aligned solely with the Empire.

I'm excited, don't get me wrong - I just hope there's much more to it all. Ishgard was wrapped up a little too cleanly and neatly for my liking and lasting consequences for the likes of Aymeric and the Scions were very few. Plus we didn't get to see things from the Archbishop's perspective to the extent where it'd be easier to understand his point of view and reasoning.

...and Othard looks like it risks overshadowing Gyr Abania, gaining the 'meat' of the expansion judging by what has been revealed thus far and the size of the map territory.

We can see Garlemald on the continent of Ilsabard appearing on the map hidden by clouds ^^

There did appear to be a crater-filled wasteland to the west of Doma, maybe that has something to do with it but yeah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
