He really appreciates the feedback on his monk. He only plays it on his alt character (he mains DRK on his mancat) and gets quite self conscious about how he plays.Yo, tell your husband he is a legit Monk. He got both our commendations. I rushed in to pull the 2nd boss because I noticed he had his stacks and I didn't want him to drop them. Selli wasn't overly happy because she didn't get Stoneskin II off, but she didn't need to drop Cleric to heal that whole boss anyway. That was one of our smoothest Expert Roulettes ever. I was kinda hoping he was on Gilga so I could drop him a friend request, but Contacts window dashed that dream, lol.
Did leveling roulette and ended up in Stone Vigil, my least favorite. Tank was a sprout. Healer was a WHM.
Tank was doing pretty good.
But this healer was a little frustrating. I'll admit, I'm not super familiar with healers, but it just felt like she was doing something wrong.
I only ever saw her use Cure and Cure 2. She seemed to only be focusing on healing the tank. Wasn't using Regen a lot. Didn't see her use Medica ever.
On the second boss, she was low on health and stood still in order to cast Raise and got torn apart by a tornado that was coming right at her and she died. The tank ended up soloing the boss at the end.
I mean we didn't really wipe at all but it was still kind of frustrating.
So Trials Roulette drops me into Sophia, which was a bad thing because I'd never run it before. I admitted this upfront.
People started questioning how I could possibly not have run Sophia before, with my gear level (259 as BLM).
Well, I'm sorry Sophia drops nothing of any importance, and what relation does gear from Scripture tomes/Alexander 9-12/Dun Scaith even have with clearing Sophia? Is it really so inconceivable that someone might choose to run Alex/Dun Scaith while skipping out on Warring Triad?
How can you get Sophia in Trials Roulette if you haven't cleared it before?
I thought that you only get access to Trials if you cleared every Trials at least one time.
Doing my WT, it was set up to were if I got my bread sticker I'd get two lines. I hopped on PLD and jumped in MS. Got CM. Got the newbie message. Started the dungeon and saw both healers were at level. I just pulled to the gate and everything was fine. After the next boss I went ahead and started pulling. Noticed I wasn't getting healed. I stopped at the the door and almost powered through. But I noticed too late and died. After that I stopped pulling until they were out of cs. The other tank started pulling. Locked one of the poor healers out the first Lucia fight.
So for my last sticker I joined a T5 party. My connection decided to troll me. It was like watching a slideshow. And then everything went off and I was in the wall.
And after all of that I didn't get one line.
Had an... interesting... Sastasha HM last night. Went in as scholar, and immediately saw that I had that tank, the one that does theirlevel best to avoid normal reasonable defensive measures like Protect. So, I resolved myself to a tank that wouldn't be getting my usual plethora of defensive spells because he's on the other side of the instance, pulling the whole world (*dislcaimer: mild hyperbole*). We have a dragoon and a ninja, and sometime during the trash pull, the tank, a paladin, must have used his cross classed Protect. Anyway, we get in and fight the first boss (again, minimal defensive buffs), only for both DPS to die to splash-stacked DoTs and the third tail screw. My rez macro misfired (I think Swiftcast buffed an Adlo instead of my raise spell) and we wipe to the next tail screw. The ninja claims to have had something come up and they had to leave, and okay, I won't question that even if I suspect it was a possibly convenient excuse to escape. We get a black mage replacement, and boss dies a swift death since it can't stack nasty AoE's and tail screw the DPS to death, but tank disconnects halfway through the fight. I give the tank a good five or six minutes before ambivalently votekicking for offline-ness. Yeah, he pulled tons and didn't let me set up, but I know my internet can take ages to reconnect if I have to reset the modem, not to mention the d/c could have been intentional. Anyway, I call in a linkshell for a replacement tank, we get her, and she proceeds to chain pull the dungeon, too, rip. No more problems, though.
Also had a fun little leveling roulette just prior to it, also on scholar. The baby dark knight hesitates and asks for Protect, which is my third cross class on scholar. I explain that it's not really needed for Toto-rak (amusing considering my previous story, I know) and that Eos has got dis healing stuff. "I trust you," is what the tank says, and away we go. Beautiful smooth run. The baby thaumaturge was a new player on Goblin. I stood around at the end and directed him to the archer guild so he could one day grow up and be a mighty black mage.
Then I got into Steps of Faith on my paladin with a couple of friends. There was a new person in the instance. I decided to take charge and ask who was taking the cannons, got two volunteers who immediately started coordinating, it was beautiful to see. I thanked them both, adding "[tank name] and [black mage name] for your comms, folks!" I don't recall if Vishap died right before the second glowing blue wall or immediately after, but there was no threat of a wipe. Best run there I'd ever seen.
Ran with a T9 farm group of 5-6 yesterday that was really awesome. Extremely encouraging and overall fun group. Even when we hit that spot in our grind where we lost focus and wiped several times to different things, we were all still pretty chill and it was a shame we had to part.
It's pretty jarring going from a group like that right into Expert Roulette where our healer was apparently having problems shifting hotbars as well as healing in general...
A12, ran into a BRD who neither used WMinuet nor Foe's Requiem. As a BLM, I wanted to slap them. As a former BRD, I wanted to slap them harder.
Dun Scaith. DRK (of course) with 33k HP decides not to use cooldowns when Diabolos Hollow comes out, gets wrecked, refuses to accept healers' ress, goes back to start, waits outside the purple barrier, watches us all die, then leaves without saying a word. Also tanks who don't want to tank in general. So it's just another Thursday.
