A whole 'nother year!

Forgive my whining but a whole year away from the awesomeness of 2.0! :"( I'll be 20 years old!

Anyway, just creating this post to see if they mentioned in any recent interviews or whatnot if theres a possibility the dates can change, and possibly have 2.0 out earlier than expected?? I know Yoshi-P was very strict on the time schedule they created.

Also, do you guys think it would be better if they waited to install these next patches until AFTER they have re-done the servers? Do you guys think people would be for it, or if it's a good idea?

P.S - I wasn't really thinking about installing patches until AFTER the redone servers, they are probably not finish with the new servers ANYTIME soon. I guess these patches are to keep us occupied?

They more than likely have these patches set up for the new server ready to be added when the time comes. They've been working on this for far longer than they've let on. However the new client and new servers are going to hit before 2.0, I believe. I'd have to re-read, but I thought the new client and stuff was being added in April of 2012. Not sure on that, but I believe that was in the roadmap somewhere.

From what I read, I think that's true but they wont be implimenting it until patch 2.0, ugh I hope not -.-

No, 2.0 will most likely not come out earlier. They are actively working on it now, and content they're making for FFXIV 1.x now does not affect the pace of development of 2.0. They're being created in parallel, separate environments. Slowing down or stopping work on 1.x will not bring 2.0 around sooner.

Also adding more people to a development project doesn't always make it go by faster, so don't try to pursue that angle.

The server transfer probably won't be too big of an issue and they still need to keep people invested while they work on 2.0.

Just relax. There's plenty of games to play in the meantime.

In my experience with software development, when dates change, they generally get pushed to a later date, not the other way around.

Unless they have a Delorian that can do 88 miles an hour, we're looking at a year.
