Anyone disappointed with the new Red Mage asthetics?

Don't be dishearten by the job, as demonstrated by the sneak peek they seem to have positionals or the "feeling" of a melee mage.

Love the aesthetics, but hate the 'magic dragoon' play style, going off what I've seen.

unless I'm missing something (since I don't know if mage has varied meanings in other worlds) but.. the job is red mage, so assumption was that it would, of course, be a caster-focused role.

Red Mages have never been strictly mages exactly, but rather a job capable of handling everything anyone can but never as good as someone specialized in it. Physical damage, magical damage, buffs, healing, anything you'd need a Red Mage could do.
It could very well have been a melee dps job similar to Ninja, just minus the mudra combos to do the magic. It could've been a healer mixing in attack spells, just like every other healer.

Red Mage was ALWAYS caster-focused. Since long before the reveal I have been saying this, because their main skill is Chainspell.

its probably one of the more innovative aesthetics in the game, or in any MMO, so far.

Personally, I'm waiting to be disappointed with whatever job they announce next. I want to save my disappointment up but at the same time I hope they announce the next job soon so I have adequate time for disappointment before I try it out and possibly set up glamours for it.

Melee/Range hybrid, magic for range attacks and rapier for melee attacks.
The melee attack seem to be the combo finisher.
