i've never played ffxi to Abyssea but from what i hear that destroyed the game. Sky if i remember correctly last for a long time.

I'm sick and tired of hearing people say Abyssea ruined FFXI.
The level cap is still being raised (at 95 atm), do people really believe that lvl 75 gear should still be as relevant?
Abyssea is just good clean fun. Is that too bad for some people? You can level up quickly now? Yessir. You know why? Because the game has been out for nearly a decade. If you were to start a character now, you'd be at an incredible disadvantage because you'd never get any low-level parties. At least not outside your shell. Know why? Because everyone is high level now.
Abyssea is just more content, fun to play, and levels the playing field.

Bounding Boots - Level 7 item - Easily one of the best pieces above and beyond 75.
Same for multiple low level items, as item level does not matter a pinkle.
Level up quickly? boy do i know it x.x leveling in Abysea was like combining dynamis with the leveling system. Most boring and mind numbing thing i ever did in XI period.I'm sick and tired of hearing people say Abyssea ruined FFXI.

It would be nice to see big endgame content like Sky/Sea though i would rather there be no competition unless we're going to be able to pk one another >.>';;. Content like Nyzul isle would be awesome as well that for me was the best part of ffxi and i never got bored of it. My only complaint of nyzul was the stingyness of the HNMs on armour drops.
Wow. Someone's mad lol

Personally I'm all in for Sky or Sea, Sea was hella cool with Jailers and stuff and that watery ground.
And the Story connected to it.
Something that gives you a nice feeling of adventuring.
I'd like to see something similar with new updates.
I hope they'll make it more challenging tho,
as well as making the next Primal Battle more challenging too.
I don't wana to see a rehash of those area's but something similar but with the new teams own flavour would be good, I'm sure they have plenty of ideas planned for the first expansion.
What with the twelve being so important to Erozea there is a good chance we will get transported to a sky like area, would be cool if we had to defeat the twelve. :P

im wasnt saying i want sky from ffxi in ffxiv
i was trying to get across that the zones themselves are interesting, (who didnt go "wow" when they first entered sky?)
and the idea of it being like a theme park where there are tons of things to do is also very exciting.
there doesnt have to be timed spawns, maybe all the nms can be poped with items to counterfiet competition...?
if they make the area large enough with enough content there should be enough room for a few linkshells..
one of the best things about sky was you could spend a couple hours there and maybe kill one or two nms or the entire ls could join up for an all nighter (half of it spent killing kirin) at the weekend.
imo it is a sound format for endgame.
Now you see this here is kind of what I like about zones like The Black Shroud, Thanalan and La Noscea, as well as Coerthas. There is a huge area with enough monsters for everyone. I truly believe the original idea was to make massive zones to accommodate the popularity of grind parties. One of the biggest issues faced in XI was the fabled bird camp/mamool ja camps. These places would allow for 2 parties each (if you were running optimally as you would easily clear the spawns way before they repopped) which means that at most, 24 players would be able to merit optimally in these very popular camps, leaving the other massive chunk of players having to make do with either lower exp per kill, lower exp per hour, or lower chains due to less monsters.im wasnt saying i want sky from ffxi in ffxiv

Also before anyone snaps in with OMG OMG OMG bla bla bla, yes I am very well aware that these weren't the only places for endgame exp, but these were the optimal places.
What I think they tried to do was address this by spreading the optimal spawn areas across humongous zones, so people could easily find an exp camp without issues.
Seems that even though they got halfway through this though, it never quite made it to completion and as such we have some very random monster placements now, like rank 80-90 mobs surrounded by rank 15-20 mobs. I hope in the rebuild we will see a better thought for monsters levels, placement and how they can be progressed through.
I think was more the time people spent on optimizing lvl 75 characters to have it all become irrelevant overnight that destroyed the game. people are still on the game but in far fewer numbers than if they kept the lvl cap that they said they would.I'm sick and tired of hearing people say Abyssea ruined FFXI.

for years they preached " we wont raise the lvl cap" blah blah oh well whatever.
FFXIV FORUMS = CRYINGCRAFT
I'm not sure if people here are nostalgic about the visuals and design of Sky and Sea, or if people actually LIKED grinding the f out of those areas, having spawns stolen, MPKing, dealing with RMT, and having to do the same content for 4 years because it still offered some of the best-in-slot rewards.
I never want to go back to a game where I have to deal with s***ty content that I have to repeat for almost half a decade, but I would definitely like to see some well stylized, themed end game areas.
