The only time I have ever heard someone call a tail a 'third leg' is in reference to a kangaroo, as they often use it to balance. I have only heard this reference while talking directly to an Australian. I work in IT that supports customer's globally, and heard it a scarce few times.

The creature in question uses a tail for balance (That's what the tail is for) but not in the sense they are referring to as a kangaroo would. If you wanted to use that 'third leg' reference more clearly...then the attack should have an animation involving such...such as the creature balancing itself on the tail and kicking at you with hind legs, or something.

To further my point that enemy ability names are just something stoned japanesse developers come up with on a bong fueled night of weed. The boss dinosaur in Solm Al uses an ability called 'Third Leg Foward' or something like that..in which it uses its tail to grab an ooze, and throw it at you...

    1) It's not a leg
    2) If anything, it's more like a hand...it's grabbing something

Edit: Nevermind. That ability is called mad dash. Point still stands. Doesn't really accentuate the notion of grabbing something and throwing it at you..just mentions the 'running to something in a fast manner'
