Even if most people leave, it's quite obvious by now that SE isn't going to let this game fail. After their horrid release, do you really think they will just let the game "die" a second death? They would have to be completely insane to let themselves get THAT much bad rep.

Even if NOBODY stayed, they would still release 2.0.

    Mark my words.

10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!

I don't disagree. I expect they will release v2.0 regardless of subs between now and then.

That overlooks the bigger picture of what I was opining. I don't see a multiplayer game that has 100 people left playing at any given time on a server as value add. The game ceases to exist, in its current form, if the player base drops below a certain point, because content (dungeons for example) become impossible to complete or so time consuming to find the people to run them with that it simply is not worth it.

Tacking a subscription on to the existing game is going to decimate the current player numbers. Who wants to play a multi-player game alone?

For one what would it matter?

A)because either way V2.0 will be made by the timeline.

    B) The more Revenue they have.. the more Resource will become Available to them.

C)I did a Shout in Besaid and Alot of people are going to pay Im not sure about other servers but my Server is Just that.

    D) Even if it Got below a Certain point, even if there was only 100 in the Server everyone will still be in Ul'dah and everyone can still have fun together.

    E) If you feel like this is going to be the outcome of the game, why are you even playing? They made their Decision and they said once they have a clear plan and mapped out on the Future of FFXIV thats when the Subs will start.

    Well, Its that time Sir.

I am not. I am simply reflecting on the next turn in SE's seemingly endless road of poor decisions.

I was always a proponent of taking this game offline completely after release and taking it to v2.0, rather than letting it limp along like this.

I don't think they were going to let the game fail from the beginning, the question is how well are they going to utilize what exists now in the community towards 2.0, and I don't think they're going to do a very good job of that.

Also, for Gath, I went over to your site yesterday to calmly discuss opinions on the subscription, and you're over here trolling? Maybe I went to the wrong place for a calm discussion.

Forgive me, this post was just so... out of touch I have to comment on it. So.. really? You think that SE is not going to pull the plug if it doesnt have enough people to support it via subs? If 66% (quoting a post above) actually leave, you can kiss this game goodbye. Why? Because upper management and bean counters wil lstate that since 66% is not paying then most likely the game would not be worth holding up.

    Think about it please.

Let's use the 66% value. If 34% of the current game population starts paying, it's still an increase over 0% now...

Who cares. First it was the game was going to fail miserably. Now that future plans are stated through 2013 it's on to the next whine.. the dreaded start of pay to play. Sooo.. the game is good enough to play for free but when it comes time for people to ante up their beer and hooker funds it's a no go.

Lame. Look if people like the game and want to pay to play then do so. If you like the game but not enough in it's current state to pay then take a leave and come back when you think it's good enough to pay for. If you are just a free leech who never wants to pay despite the games condition then admit that to yourself and move on already and stop trolling the end of FF14. Haters gonna hate.. Players gonna play no matter what.

yeah that one comment is absurd. If noone stayed in the game it would end of course but that's ridiculous and not going to happen. Give Yoshi and his team and the suits at SE a little more credit. Don't you think these smart guys have sat down and taken all this into consideration already.. the potential playerbase losses vs gains present and future.

Everything you people have thought of that's the possible demise of ff14 they have already discussed a long time ago. The game is going to thrive and there's nothing you can do about it except post more garbage and stop playing or get onboard.

Most of my LS's are staying. I honestly think people are over-reacting about having to pay. OOO...a whole 10-12 dollars...

Honestly, I've only heard a few people complain about it, but no one has said they were leaving of the people I know.

Granted, the original pricing points probably don't hold water to what the new sub fees will be, but they were around $13/mo. for base subscription and one character. If I remember right, it was $9.99 base sub, and $3 per character.

I know a lot of my LS members have said if they charged a flat $10/mo, they'd stay. I'm not sure why the extra two or three dollars makes a difference, but it's probably the same psychology that applies to pricing anything with " .99" at the end.

"You don't stop playing when you get old, you get old when you stop playing!"

Punctuation is your friend. It deliniates the difference between "Let's eat, Grandma!" and "Let's eat Grandma!"
