Ok, thanks for clarifying, and I agree with you that someone affected by peer pressure has bigger issues to tackle. Imagine for a moment the life of someone with such issues to tackle. What are the odds that they will suddenly be galvanized to tackle them over this? It's far more likely, in my opinion, that peer pressure will play out differently for them. I wonder, though someone would never come post it here, whether anyone dropped the game in a situation like that.

fail strawman is fail, I did not dispute the existence of social standing, but when one's "social standing" in a "gaming circle" comes to dictate what one does IRL, well, let's just say the guy has much bigger issues to deal with.I never said I cared one way or the other, but would you still dismiss the idea of social standing after studying up in psychology?
"As renowned neuroscientist, Michael Gazzaniga, has noted, “When you get up in the morning, you do not think about triangles and squares and these similes that psychologists have been using for the past 100 years. You think about status. You think about where you are in relation to your peers.” Between CEO and employee, quarterback and wide receiver, husband and wife, status looms large."

Social standing affects status, which affects reputation, which affects trust, which affects decisions and relationships.
