But there would be no difference in overall dps during that phase no matter what target the blm targets. Them targeting the same thing as you would result in indicidual fireballs going down faster sure, but you still need to wipe out all of them or its a wipe. Focus targeting them doesnt increase the overall dps in the situation of a brd+blm unfortunately. DPS was clearly the issue, but it wasn't related to the target the blm was choosing. My frustration comes from not trying to work with me after I tried to work them. I know I can move a little into casting, that's something I get. The way it was being done was not working and my Wanderer's was the not issue. I guarantee if she had worked with us, we wouldn't have wiped because we clearly need assistance in the dps-ing of the fire balls.
I said OR targeting ahead of us. I didn't say she was the entire issue, again my frustration comes from them not working with me after I did what they asked and we still didn't succeed. I didn't agree my buff was the problem seeing as I stance danced the dmg buff part, and she didn't agree she was the problem but the difference is that I actually did it their way to try and find a solution but SHE didn't even attempt. But there would be no difference in overall dps during that phase no matter what target the blm targets. 2nd edit: I suppose it's just a difference in play styles. But a team can always make up for whatever the party or someone individually lacks. We can't make up for slow dps if we can't see it. All I was saying is that it would've been nice for her to work with the party as a whole and hit targets close to us so we could see if she was slow or not or rather SOMETHING other than the same thing because that obviously wasn't working. It's easier to do than to explain, but if she attacks something ahead of us and doesn't kill it completely but moves onto the next target, I can see that and switch targets and quickly kill it off (just an example) but if she's attacking something behind us, none of know if she's slow or not. We assume as a BLM that yes she can tackle the fireballs on her own, but not every person or BLM can in a decent amount of time, some times she might screw up, either way she didn't work with us, whatever was happening wasn't working, and instead of trying to figure it out they assumed I was the problem despite me already doing the dungeon several times the same way before this run and ending it fine.

That's not going to increase damage output at all even if it was what was happening. And if seeing what she's up to is important for you then that's what changing your camera angle is for. It's not much of a challenge to to get all of those fireballs into a single field of view, particularly as ranged, at which point you can easily keep track of whether she's left one with a sliver of health.if she attacks something ahead of us and doesn't kill it completely but moves onto the next target, I can see that and switch targets and quickly kill it off (just an example) but if she's attacking something behind us, none of know if she's slow or not
I get the rest of what you're saying, and how frustrating it can be to fail a dps check that you feel should be easy, but perhaps part of the reason your suggestion wasn't tried at the time is that it doesn't make much sense as a solution to increase the dps output in that situation.

So I was tanking Dzamael as a PLD for a friend (SMN) who needed clear for it. We got a healer who also came as a newcomer and a NIN.
Healer said that she's trying to build confidence in big pulls so I can go ahead and do maniac pulls if I want to. So I put my oath on and proceeded to be a maniac.... then I dropped dead. Not because she was a bad healer or anything. It was just that I put the wrong oath and I didn't even notice until we wiped. She apologized, but I told her it's fine - I derped and put the wrong stance on.
Went on again. I pulled everything from the beginning to near the first boss. She did really good. Sure one DPS died and our HPs dropped really low but she managed to bring the party up. SMN didn't even have to help her much, I think he only cast physick like once or twice.
But the only wipe we had made me want to dig a hole and just lay there. I sometimes put the wrong stance but I notice right away.

@Vault: I'm actually used to the party spreading in all 4 directions and everyone killing their own 2-3 fireballs by themselves and then look around if someone left something. Having the entire party move in a circle, killing one ball after another seems inefficient
As a BLM main, one Fire-Crit is enough to get a Fireball from 100% to 0%. Doing that on the same Fireball as everyone else is a pointless DPS loss. Not to mention how much worse it is to start casting and the ball dies before my cast finishes and I have to start over again.
Like Mhaeric explained, there is NO Dmg to be gained from the BLM attacking the same or the target next to yours. If anything, there is a risk of actually LOSING dps.
I know it's frustrating when someone refuses to work with your strategy, but in this case, that strategy made no sense :x

Did a Weeping City the other day and carried my group. ;;;; First time I've really carried something hardcore on SCH.
DPS dying to stupid mechanics, repeatedly. WHM dying to stupid mechanics, repeatedly. Tank in his tank stance despite not being the MT and not being able to control his add on the second boss.
It was like a throwback run to when Weeping City was brand new. Only there were no bonuses. :|

Today was the third time in DF I saw someone wearing the Starlight Robe as their chest piece.
No, no, not glamoured. Wearing it in place of their armor.
@_@

Ran DD because I needed it for old relic (just trying to at least get past the book phase once XD), start of the dungeon I apologize if I stop because my connection was crazy that night ( Connection ended up being o a bit after the first boss tho ) WHM kept using water ball pretty often, most of the time on whatever I was hitting (on MNK) Close to the end of the dun I ask if they could try not to use water ball so often as they're making my job a little more difficult. Healer says dps is dps (yet--no holy and barely any stone--? ), tank then tells me that I have been disconnecting half the time and that it doesn't matter. I tell the tank it does but that I won't make an argument out of it; for which the tank thanks me and we all carry on quietly. We get to the final boss, WHM runs out of mp, tank dies, BRD dies, I LB and get the boss to 2%, die, WHM follows. We all respawn (tank and healer last) and by the time the bard and I get back to the boss room, I get kicked XD (go mentors~!)
Q'd again but not for in progress just so I could get a whole new group; got 2-3 sproutlings who were new to the dungeon it seemed. A few questions and explanations here and there and we cleared with no problems or wipes~ /o/ (and with holy~! )
Que'd up for Bismarck EX with my 2 buddies to help one of em get their clear since they came back to the game, anyways fights going smooth got 3 solid DPS blowing things up. We get to the serpents, tank called wind one sure, I grab water, I get water mark I voke and...the tank isn't voking the other one we wipe twice. Tank says "I don't have voke..." so we had to play the RNG game and waited another time before we finally got different marks.
Worst part the tank was a drk with Glad at lvl 21 literally just had to lvl 1 more lvl to unlock Provoke honestly drove me insane.
