Square enix US Tweet: two jobs expansion? If Blue Mage, what role?

Gonna go ahead and debunk the tweet...well anyway it contradicts this -

There are three of them...so, I'd say three jobs.

To be fair, its not the first time Yoshida said one thing and we found out that he means something else. I would not be suprised if they release 2 DPS, lets not forget, the new jobs (for now) will start at level 50, so the Duty Finder will not suffer from long queues, compared to if the new jobs were going to start at level 1 or 30.

I think we will have 2, but like many, I hope we get 3 classes, Red Mage, Dancer and Blue Mage/Samurai.

Didn't BLU suck in 11? I never played it but from what I heard having friends being forced to help you grind mobs for hours on end doesn't seem appealing for this game at all.

BLU started out strong but it was eclipsed by the bandwagon DPS, which was SAM for the longest time. It was great for low man stuff like Limbus and Nyzul Isle 1.0. BLU took much more work (gear, lets be real) to get most out of the class. Spell grinding could get monotonous when you're 0/100 on an ability from an enemy that spawns every few RL hours. Job traits were determined by the spells you set, but a BLU/DNC made for great soloing or low man when Adoulin came out. Don't expect to do endgame with it, XI had a "staple" problem when only certain jobs with R/E/M were "allowed" for PUGs. You might have a cool LS that let you go if you prove yourself, but most of the time you had to go as a "mandatory" job.

I want to agree but things can happen and change just like with the whole Samurai being replaced with Dark Knight. Granted knowing that, would mean they must have a fair amount of work on SAM right? If the only issue was just cus they didn't want two Eastern themed jobs.

Well, Dancer is a new job, is it not? Is not news anymore, but it's new to FFXIV regardless. So the moment I read that, I thought they were referring to DNC. Who knows why they removed the tweet?

There has been no confirmation of Dancer, anywhere. The whole Dancer idea was actually a competitor to Red Mage and the "Scarlet Witch" t-shirt tomgo alone with the girl in red in the trailer. Now we know that Scarlet Witch meant Red Mage and was not a reference to the girl.

It was also said three during the live stream. Well, another dev from a different game company was there and it went like this

Also that is true where he says one thing and another happens but they did specify jobs take one year to make. I would assume by 2016 Aug that if there was indeed three jobs they would be solid by then, with them working on the last one from there. Whoever runs SE twitter could have put that out wrong...idk, seems weird for yoshida and such to bring it up twice with he number three but who knows...

Furthermore if it was true and a really bad spoiler they'd most likely delete this thread and any evidence of it like with what happened with the SMN leak when someone caught it on their website. Not the art, I am talking about a time when someone found a placeholder page for summoner way before it was announced.

Esh that sounded horrible i feel bad for that class if it does come here I hope Square will rework it so it doesn't happen again. Although its hard to balance Monster Abilities if they weren't that great to begin with...

SE seems to have learned a good bit from FFXI and the mistakes and successes it had. I doubt they'll implement BLU in a manner in which it wouldn't be able to function competitively with other classes/jobs in terms of gameplay. Its just a matter of finding its role out of the three possible, and which expansion to include it in.

As an additional thought, perhaps it would be linked to the Ananta? Their little lore snippet made it clear they're quite gifted when it comes to magic and gemcraft. Maybe Blue Mages learned from the Ananta.

Could be they'll add more jobs as the expansion goes on too. Like Ninja/Summoner.
