Dillemma, and legit question of ethics.

Greetings boys and girls, catgirls and catgirls, popotoes and cabbages, small hume and big hume, tall hume with pointy ears and hippies(?), scaly catgirlclone and wild looking scaled thingy.

I bring you a question:
If you suspect - note, suspect, not confirmed - that your close friend, close FC mate, or close Linkshell mate, are doing the... unspeakables. You know, I mean if you suspect they are *cough* botting *cough*. What would you do? Confront them about it? Report them? Would you turn a blind eye?

Then, what happens if you've confirmed that they are indeed doing one of those unspeakables?

What will you do? :O

End note: Please keep discussion civil, lighthearted jokes are okay, but I would generally prefer an honest answer.

Decide what is more important to you. Their friendship, or your morals. Realize that this is just a game. I've overlooked worse things, irl, for close friends.

However, there is nothing wrong with telling them you don't approve of what they are doing.

I really don't take a proactive stance against stuff like this, tbh, I don't even blacklist rmt tells or the like, I just feel like it's a waste of my limited game time when I finally get to log in.

For me it's friendship over morals IN THIS CASE IN PARTICULAR, because it's a videogame. First things first, I'd try to dissuade them of doing so, explaining how these actions are risky for their account and overall unsporting. I'd not report them but they should not expect my sympathy if they get banned.

i would tell a close friend to stop it, but i will never report him :O

a not so close friend... i think it depends on the circumstances. if he is using some of these mouse memory programs for crafting i will have a blind eye, but if he is botting in pvp over weeks i may report him.

Given I'm very much a "By the book"/"Rules must be enforced" person (I mean look at some of my other posts where I've asked SE to permanently ban my account for ragequitting a duty), I would straight up report them. That's not to say I don't care about my friends, but rules are rules. I'm also a very rigid black/white thinker, no grey area.

Report them to a GM make sure they're banned permanently, if that doesn't work then shout in every city and tell everyone of their horrific misdeeds and make them a pariah.

EDIT: Oh, and SE would get a report from me reporting myself for ragequitting the duty and asking me to be permanently banned. Yes, I did that, as I mentioned in my previous post in this thread.
