Even people who don't pay the monthly fee can still leave feedback by going to the other community sites, such as Zam or Eorzeapedia, where you can post without having an active FFXIV account.

Our stance makes no sense? Right, the only thing in this world that matters is money. The faith of long time final fantasy fans who buy all their FF games doesn't mean a thing. Players like us are worthless. The integrity of SE isn't important at all. The fact that I will hesitate buying anything from SE again does not impact their company at all. The fact that certain free to play games (League of Legends) make more money than subscription based games is irrelevant. Our stance makes no sense.
A small amount of subscribers that will begin to dwindle as new MMOs arrive will not turn a profit. Is FFXIV run by a bunch of volunteers?
I don't see what's so hard about using a modified free to play model. Let players access certain premium content if they subscribe (dungeons, jobs, new classes, high end gear, materia, new craft recipes). Simple. Oh wait... this is SE. Nothing is simple. We can't do that. Let's freeze up in the face of progress cause we're too afraid to try anything innovative anymore. Let's go back and use FFXI's ideas and WoW's ideas. Recycle what works.
Honestly, all things considered.. I'm willing to pay to play and remain in the game just because of the way SE is handling the relaunch. Allowing the playerbase to remain within the game and revolving an entire storyline around the reconstruction in which the players can take part in.. yeah. I have to be a part of that, no question.
Won my paying subscription without any second thoughts.
It depends on how many subscribers there are. You have no way of knowing for sure that there won't be enough subscribers to cover SE's expenses. You just assume there won't be.
If you think FFXIV should adopt a free-to-play model with a cash item shop instead of having a monthly fee like FFXI and WoW, that's a perfectly respectable stance, but that's not what I'm arguing against in this topic. I'm arguing against the people who think SE should continue to let us play for free for another year.

How about a compromise? They charge us HALF of what they planned for the next year. More subs are comfortable with that=more ppl will pay to play=more money for SE. Everybody's happy.
It's on point though. It would have been much more prudent to include microtransactions, letting players pay for potential amenities, such as additional retainers, / additional bazaar slots, Anima regeneration, Additional Leve allowances, Name Changes, Paid race / appearance / gender changes etc.It depends on how many subscribers there are. It isn't a financialy prudent move though, to alienate a good section of your customerbase. Particularly at the prices they are charging. It's reasonable that they're trying to monetize the game, but the way they're going about it carries too much risk.
Some people seem to think that multi-million dollar corporations should be pitied hence paying for a half complete game. The sub won't break my bank, but not having the sub wont break SE either. I'll pay when the game is 100% complete.
Also forgive this troll post but as it is somewhat relevant...
Dyslexics and misspellers of the world UNTIE!!!
First of all we haven't been playing for free, most of us paid for the box. They sold 600k+ copies? Which is plenty of profit for this crappy game.
If they want more money they should charge for 2.0 as an expansion and introduce subscriptions after that.
In my opinion, by making the game p2p SE can acknowlege their true audience and playerbase.
With that said, to all those who are going to stop playing and believe the game is gonna fail due to this course of action think of it this way: While the game was free to play the amount of people playing didnt count for anything anyway, and once they leave....Lets just say it will be like they never left (Or played for that matter)![]()
