there is a thread proving that when square released a road map of the future of xiv, they would start charging again. And I would like to think this recent post was a road map they were talking about. If they game wasn't functional and fun, you wouldn't be playing right now. So stfu dumb people and pay to play or whine and go somewheres else.

Fact is, Yoshida said himself that the game is only half way to being satisfactory. Therefore, we're experiencing a post release beta.

Yeah, the timing of them charging coming RIGHT AFTER Yoshida made that statement is kinda... 'eh'. Makes me think this decision might have gone over his head. Seems Wada might be rushing things again... not that it matters in this particular case. Not as if they were getting any money from the subs they may potentially lose from this move.

It's quite possible that they told him he HAS to start charging, I mean with the cost of things you can't simply just KEEP giving it away from free. I mean, yes, there are definitely still a lot of bugs that need to be worked out and they are working towards it. I, however; see that the game is going in the correct direction and will gladly pay to see it get there. It's about the bigger picture in my eyes.

Call it what you will, to me it's a real game and I have lots of fun playing with it, and obviously a lot of people feel the same, otherwise we all wouldn't be here.

The free trial period was supposed to end several months ago... why would someone buy an online game they were expecting to have to pay monthly after the first month (the trial period) if they can't even afford it!? People are quite dumb and there are way too many threads about "I'm quitting", "not going to pay", "pay to play - unofficial poll", ect... stfu, I'm pretty sure everyone is tired of all the complaining, god I feel sorry for the dev. team... you guys are truely a nightmare...

Anyways, I'm going to continue to play the game! And I'm also not going to bitch and moan about every single problem and create new threads, even though there are over 9000 of them already created. there is a SEARCH FUNCTION people! learn to use it and post in an already existing threads!

Personally, I'm excited to see billing start. Finally we are going to get rid of some trolls. I would rather play with a handful of helpful, positive friends than a server full of cry babies. I'm looking forward to the positive swing of energy for both the game and the forums that is coming in Nov/Dec. If the game isn't worth less than two quarters a day to you... don't let the door hit you on the way out. The first few months of the game, I logged on when I was completely bored with everything else, now it's my first choice of entertainment, that's a success in my book.
