Why are we complaining about jump potions when we know they are going to happen. This was pretty much confirmed when SE stated that Heavenward would not be a requirement for Stormblood (4.0). What we should concern ourselves with is how it is implemented. In that regard I am sure that the Dev team would welcome your comments and suggestions.

We'll just have to wait and see, then. For all we know, those who use the jump potion may actually be decent at the game. If they practice every new ability they suddenly now have (read up guides and etc), then you're not going to have a problem. If they decide to jump into the first dungeon they see the moment they're geared for them and also choose to ignore advice, then you can kick them.

Like I said in the past Jump Potion thread that was deleted, I think SE wrote/developed themselves into a corner on this one.
New players will have to go through 286 ARR's MS quests and whatever amount HW ends with (we are currently at 94 quests) just to get to Stormblood.
Between doing the quests, leveling, dungeons, trials, and traveling from point A to B, the new expansion will have a huge time-sink as a gate.
This is going to be disheartening to any new player coming in because of what they see Stormblood will have (jobs, story, locations, fights, etc).
I think in the future, SE needs to look into not being so linear with their expansion design and maybe cut some of the fat off of ARR's MSQ, while also upping the amount of EXP you get per each quest, so people can get to 50 doing the MSQ.

Having said that, IF SE introduces a Jump Potion, I think they need to:
A)Make it one per ACCOUNT, not character. This is more to prevent RMTers from abusing these to get to HW and SB areas.
    and
B)Have those who use it go through some form of basic training. I think just plopping a new player into a level 60 environment would be to frustrating for both the new player, who wouldn't know what they are doing and wouldn't have the muscle memory down, and veteran players, who would have to teach them.

This harms actual, legitimate players more than it does the RMT sellers. Better off just RMT reporting those characters, and then once they're banned, SE has both the money from the pot purchase as well as their sub costs. It's a win-win.

I never saw the logic in this argument. I've seen level 60s in current content not know their weapon from their shoe. It is so incredibly easy to faceroll dungeons and not grasp what you're doing. I myself don't like the idea of a jump potion, but if they add some sort of required training akin to Hall of the Novice then I can't see an issue.

They backed themselves into a corner big time with their design. It favors those who keep current and if you fall too far behind... have fun catching up.

Why do you have to be condescending about it? That's exactly what this game is, a mainline Final Fantasy game with online tacked on the bottom
I don't like the story either, I think it's got bad pacing, forgettable characters, god awful localization for the north American release (If I have to hear succor one more time)but I knew what I was getting into when I joined around 2.4

Because people don't seem to understand priorities anymore. Yes this is a "mainline Final Fantasy game", but as a GAME the most important thing is the GAMEPLAY, which is constantly locked behind STORY. STORY and GAMEPLAY can coexist, we have seen games doing this perfectly and we even have a good comparison for the MMORPG genre (SWTOR), but in this game the MSQ is an issue because of how it's implemented, as it constantly and purposedly locks major and minor features behind it, including an entire expansions. And this is unhealthy for the population's.

I mean even normal rpgs have less locking issues than this game does!

As for me, I'll keep skipping because I simply dislike how the story is written and told, and as I said I don't really want it to be removed: I still think that a "campaign" mode helps to guide players and it can be helpful. But this game's story mode is not even close to that because it keeps locking everything. I mean really, why do I have to wait lvl 50 for unlocking glamour? Why can't I use my vet reward mount before I join those GC? Why can't I just go anywhere before said story tells me so? Why can't pvp just be red vs blue instead of having 3 factions all the time?! (And yes I've been told a lot of times that the lore has nothing to do with it, but a hindrance remains an hindrance). Why, what, why?!

In any case, the way they're keeping the content lock will do no good in the nearby future, especially when in 2-3 expansions they have 2000 quests JUST to access the new area. I'll just want to see how that excuse will help.

I am also annoyed at the level requirement for glamor.

Comparing a 3 faction vs 2 faction pvp system...
In some cases, a 2 faction system can get lopsided with the amount of people on one side.
A 3 faction system can allievate that, allowing the two 'weaker' factions to team up and even the odds.

I don't actually have experience with ffxiv's pvp, but I'm not sure how well, if at all, that benefit of a 3 faction system works here....

The ideal doesn't happen often. What ends up happening is the 2 fight each other while the top team skates by.

    Simple solution.

Come patch 4.0 add an auto skip option for those who want don't care about the story.
That includes ALL cut scenes and dialog. You would probably get to stormblood in like 2 weeks tops.
Add 100% bonus exp from 1-60.
