14. If they were to add a new race, it might be in 5.0According to a link someone had posted in another thread, there may be a new race in 5.0. If there is going to be a new race, it would be nice if there was a race poll.

well thats a lot of ifs and whens + 5.0, maybe a bit too much emphasis on it right now? :P
but yeah if there would be certain new race annoucment a poll is of course appriciated
Im in agreement with this sentiment.
We really need to give our current options some love now that the PS3 isn't holding them back with it's whole 512mb of RAM.
-Higher texture resolution for characters
-better shaders
-options that aren't locked to a specific face.
-additional sliders
-butts
-man-nips
-more options in general.
Once we get that out of the way, a new race would be great, and it would be better off for it.
How about another original race rather than a recycled one from the Ivalice games?
If the Au Ra are any indication, they won't look nearly as kickass as they do in their concept art.
I just wanted to add... the only reason I'm a hume/hyur is because no other race fits my desired aesthetics. I love elf race, but I don't like how Elvaans/Elezen look in the game (broad shoulders, weird proportions) and I was hoping for AuRas to be tall and have that thin, elegant figure like the showed in concept art, but they turned out to be shorter than a cat girl and all cutesy (I was disappointed). If they didn't have these issues, I would be one of either, and not a Hyur. I am sure there are people in the same situation I am. So I say those polls don't hold the whole truth. Sometimes people pick a race because they have no more options, not necessarily because that's their prefered. We need options. If they won't add a new race, maybe they could add taller AuRas... oh and the horn-face restriction is another issue that disheartened me from staying as an AuRa, as well.Since there is as of now no official 2016 census I looked at the 2015 one.
AuRa make up less percentage than Roegadyn at that point.
So why would the devs go to all the trouble of making a new race ?
I would love to see new races , but it must be disheartening for devs .

Perfect reason not to do them IMO. They are just another Hyur with animal ears, like Miqo'te or Au Ra (but horns in their case.) I think until they can get over the whole "we don't like characters that arn't cute" thing, there is no point in adding another race that will be almost the same as what we have. XIV needs a more beastial race.
~Quit moping, get hoping~
Lore doesn't mean anything if it wasn't actually Viera like the Miqo'te (Mithra), obviously. The censuses have consistently shown that the majority of players play Hyur or Miqo'te, adding another race is unlikely to change this. Viera don't fit in with anything from a lore standpoint. The voice of the fans is useful, but sometimes the developers are wise to politely ignore the playerbase.
Even if it didn't happen this expansion I still have hope for the next. Those numbers don't lie, but I still hoped that we get some race at all. I'd be even more disappointed if there were no extra customization for the character creator.
But once again, cheers to optimization....and optimism.

I didn't read the posts so just my opinion to OP:
No. There are way more pressing matters. Why do we need a new race every expansion? It's more important to polish and customize the races we have atm than mess up a new one. A new race does not provide more gameplay, all it is is the same classes in a new wrapping.
Just curious but... why does everyone want this race so badly? I'm genuinely curious. They gave us bunny ears and tails and are working on it for the males. Is that not the same thing? (I have never played a game with Viera in it so really don't understand what all the fuss is about).
