I'm a little confused by the request?

Flame arrow is actually an AoE ability, but the effect isnt a debuff or DoT effect. rather, it's timer is shown as a BUFF on yourself.

The tooltip description rather shows the potency of the ability and its duration. the area of flaming arrow itself (the red circle you placed) is what does that 40 potency damage while an enemy is in it, every 3 seconds. This is why alot of bards get upset at tanks that move enemies out of range of effect.

If youre asking if it would be changed so that Flame arrow was a splash effect AoE with the same effect? I don't play bard enough to really comment if that would be QoL, a nerf, or a buff. As a DRK, though, Salted earth working in such a way would be.... certainly an interesting change, to say the least

I think maybe they're asking for a marker on the enemy debuff list to indicate that they are actually taking damage from Flaming Arrow?

wasn't suppose it be the same when smn/sch use shadow flare = it gave slow effect
and the same for ninja when use doton = heavy effect
both them ability right? then why bard not the same?

Because as "Status Effects" they don't always work on every target. So in the case of SCH/SMN and NIN the reason why Doton and Shadow Flare have a symbol for their Debuff is to let the player know if it's working on the target or not.

The reason for the status effect is Shadowflare gives the slow debuff additionally to the damage and Doton gives heavy additionally to the damage while being within the area of effect. You dont see a debuff for Flaming Arrow because there is no status effect in addition to the damage, same for Salted Earth. All four of this skills are ground effects, the only you can recognize are low numbers floating up from enemies standing within the fire ring.

More like, can we get wide volley turned into an AoE and turn Flaming Arrow into a personal attack buff.

May as well make it a vulnerability up effect on the mobs since bard has no real good use these days.

But Wide Volley IS an AoE??? And a free extra 13.3 AoE pps every 30 out of 60 seconds, pairable with every IR, every other RS, HE, and BFB, isn't one heck of a personal attack buff?
Maybe we should see if 4.0's RDM is getting Enfire first?

    On topic:

The only reason there's no on-target indicator of Flaming Arrow having an effect is because Flaming Arrow itself does not inflict a debuff (whereas Doton and Shadow Flare will, unless the enemy is immune to that effect). Or, to put it another way, targets do not list as a debuff, persistent AoEs they are standing in.

While this could probably be changed any time, Flaming Arrow itself isn't really enough of a reason to do so, especially when we're already frequently capping the listable debuffs on a given target, and SE still seems unable to develop a proper display optimization for said debuffs.

Indeed, the real issue here is with Square's crappy UI. All the dot damage is lumped up together, making it impossible to say which effects are causing what damage. the dot damage is in a hard-to-see color, very small, and is hard to distinguish from all your other damage types. To say nothing of the inconsistency of having a ground dot not put an icon on affected mobs, as the OP pointed out.

In addition, you can't turn off the damage numbers of your party members or pets, making it unnecessarily difficult to figure out what is doing what. Unless you want to stare at your combat log, I guess.
