Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

It's still "General Discussion", the best way to have a strong thread is to be able to overcome discussion, not just a circle jerk of "Yes pleasers" and assume that because the thread is 100% YES that clearly it's a great idea.

If the retort to people who disagree is 'GTFO' (In essence), then how great of an idea is it really?

Discussion doesn't always mean "debate." Obviously OP was looking to make a platform for supporters of a Viera race to make their voices heard, rather than pointlessly sparking yet another "I don't want it because [blank]!" If you're that against it, go discuss it somewhere else, or make a thread detailing what you would like.

100% true, but ideas tend not to thrive in opposition free environments, so you may as well use the inevitable different opinions of a public forum to bolster the idea and maybe even win over some hearts. It's certainly a better route than feebly hoping that a basically unmoderated forum won't have at least one person who views the situation differently.

I truly want Viera in FFXIV, however i would only want the mature, ferocious, and graceful warrior race. The idea of the their male counter part being physically smaller (as a reverse variant of AuRa would be acceptable). As "cute" as a child like race would be, the issues with having a child like form makes to many issues to be worth it.

Something slightly more proportionate than the Elezen, not looking like a cute teenager would be much appreciated.

If Viera were to be added, your view would be what I would prefer. Powerful looking, graceful and almost Amazon'esque. Turn the idea of a cute bunny girl on it's head by making them fierce warriors who don't look preteen.

A quick answer to this:

Because both probably requires more resources than Yoshi has available to develop content. It is simple logic. One developer can produce a certain amount of work within any given time. Each customisation option and each aspect of developing a new race takes a certain amount of work. To produce both would require the work of both amounts to be done. Unless Yoshi P has suddenly had a major increase in model designers he won't have enough people to complete the amount of work to do both.

Or as they usually say, not enough resources.

That said I have no issue with viera as a playable race. I don't think we will see them in Stormblood because if they haven't started to develop them already they wouldn't be ready in time for Stormblood's launch. If they were planning to introduce a new race they probably would have mentioned it at the last Fanfest even if they didn't show what it was. There is only like 6 months to go and all resources are probably already dedicated to other parts of the expansion. Developing things like a new races usually take up to a year or more to fully implement.

I understand where you are coming from. To me, it doesn't matter what we get first; viera or an expansion of current customization. As long as we DO get viera, the order doesn't matter.

Discussion doesn't always mean "debate."

Discussion always implies sharing opinions - what marks the difference between a discussion and a debate is that in a debate, one side insists their opinion to be accepted/right. In this case, the OP is making that the premise of his "discussion", thereby excluding different opinions a priory and preventing any form of discussion.

If you do not want different opinions, then you do not want to discuss and thus you are at the wrong place in a discussion forum, full stop. What the OP actually wants is not a discussion, it's a petition. And this is not a petition forum.

But that's enough off-topic from me. Discussing with "fans" tends to be futile anyhow.
