Questions and Feedback on the Future of FINAL FANTASY XIV

Oh right, another question. The graphics engine work and all that -

Will it still be Crystal Tools? Or are you plotting to switch over to S-E's new Luminous system? Or something else?


And.. on another note, that teaser.. wow. I'm actually excited again. Sure there are a few things I'm not completely comfortable with still but.. I think my new biggest concern is whether or not the game will persist and I'll get to see all of that.

Wow. 2.0 looks like the most amazing online game I have ever seen. They are planning every major overhaul asked of them multiple times over. But... I have a feeling I probably won't be playing this game much for the next year.

Edit: actually I take that back. I will play. I will pay. I will support this game. Never before has a company done something like this. They are not only fixing a broken game, they are turning it into something that will stand tall among MMORPGs around the world. If anything has the power to save Square Enix as a company in the eyes of gamers, I think it will be FFXIV.

I'm more of a keyboard only gamer... All those implementations sound like I'm going to be forced to use the mouse. Will there still be some way to play with keyboard only?

I have to say I like the ring of that. Plus it has good Lalafell alliteration.

I vote YES to "Final Fantasy 14: Phoenix" over "FFXIVv2.0"

Hmm... A part of me is fighting the changes because I've become accustomed to what we have now, but the other part of me is excited to be part of this growing phase of the game. If I think back, this is why I stuck with the game since Open Beta. So then, a few thoughts.

1. I'm seriously happy we're going to be pay to play. I've been ok with paying for this game for months now, and 1.19 cinched it.

2. I'm disappointed that the game will include a way to have UI Addons. I remember seeing my step brothers play WoW and it was always, "You need this addon and you need that addon." I don't want to have to need anything.

3. No mention of musketeer, although this is a minor one. I can wait.

4. I understand why you wouldn't have, but I was really hoping for a look at the new city maps. I'm honestly worried because I've loved Limsa right from the start. I know Gridania is being changed, but what of the other two cities?

5. What the above posters said. I play 100% keyboard. Will there be a way to play still for me, or will I require mouse use?

All of the above is from that part of me that's scared of change. Then I look at the concept art and I think, "Wow this looks pretty." Change is good, of course, so I guess I'll wait and see.

I'm very excited to learn all the new fishing points .

EDIT: My post comes off as negative when it's not meant to be. This is the same dev team that did such a bang up job with 1.19, so I have trust in them. There's just little niggling worries at the back of my head. If they change LL, I'll never get to see the northern islands, or walk on all the locked off bridges. Or, all I do in game is fish (I seriously love fishing) so what if they change that for the worse. Just little stuff like that. Overall I'm excited for the way this game is going, and if 1.19 is any indication it can only get better.

So excited, I can barely contain it. A quick question for now, though. One of the documents outlined the distribution and sale of the new FFXIV; will the players who have been playing before version 2.0 have to purchase this? Will it be like an expansion (~$10) or a whole new game to buy and download?

No. SE stated that the new version will be available for free on-line download to existing subscribers.

A lot of final fantasy players love the Summoner Class and I can see on the future plans that summonable pets are planned. Are there any plans in the future to release the Summoner class/job?
