Heres an idea, instead of saying FFXIV is becoming like every other MMO out there and copying their stuff.
How about we say the FFXIV team has picked out the good stuff to make FFXIV even better!

Personally I'm a little unsettled by some of these changes they want to introduce. The concept UI alone is something I dislike. One thing I like about our current UI is how clean and minimal it looks, I don't need a hundred icons all over my screen to point and click to. Hopefully that's just the concept one meant for keyboard/mouse users. Overall I suppose we may have to ultimately wait until these thoughts are put into motion and we see them. But as for me, if Phantasy Star Online 2 is released before FFXIV is complete I may end up finding myself migrating to that game instead.
I'm not fanboying XI. XI had tons of problems. I played it for like a month. I wanted a new UI, I was ALL FOR the overhaul. This is not what I was expecting and not what I was hoping for.
Maybe? Hopefully? The new UI absolutely looks nothing like any FF game I've ever played (art, style). Sure, I could mod the UI to look like something else, but it's just one example of the direction they're taking. There is plenty of more original and Final Fantasy style content being introduced that far outweighs the amount of WoW mimicry.
A couple examples of my disgust:I've yet to read anything in the breakdown that strikes me as a poor design decision, so perhaps you can enlighten us as to what the problem is beyond "It's like WoW".
Chocobos fighting with people: EVERYONE HAS A PET. Not only is this somewhat annoying, but it completely ruins the uniqueness of pet classes.
Dungeon finder: While it was good in WoW, it ultimately caused so much problem in the game. There is no community anymore, and no random interaction. To go anywhere or do anything, you just hit the dungeon finder. Random people show up, you don't care about each other, and you get the thing done. I'm all for a ton of help in getting parties formed, but hopefully it doesn't turn out like this.
Achievements can also turn out REALLY BADLY. The majority of WoW's achievements are not fun, interesting or anything. They're massive time dumps so you play more, and give you nothing of value. They're bringing that system here... will they do it right? Probably not, because they said there's over 300.
Is it not mature? I was actually online, in the game while typing this post. I logged off when I typed that. And posting a ***log off*** is mature ?
Dude.. if you are not happy and maybe a few thousands arent... who cares?
The other thousands will stay as they do like it.
So your *log off* makes us pee our pants of laughing.
I didn't read anyone's opinions on it before I posted... should I have to? I want to post MY opinion. Maybe this is not what others think, but this is me getting my voice out there and what I think about it.
That's not as dramatic, and clearly goes against the OP's desire to have an arthouse MMO from a major publisher.
LOL @ THIS THREAD
2.0 is the only thing that will save this game.

This is a pretty important concern. I suggest we discuss it early so square has time to prepare for the possibility of the abuse of such a system.

Actually, the new UI looks like a mix of FFXIII and FFXII. More like Tactics Advanced kinda style even.![]()
Dungeon Finder ruined WoW?
I need pick myself off the floor after that one.
