Sooo... I landed in a 51 minute in-progress run of The Vault as a SCH yesterday. With alarm bells already ringing, I say hello and head over to Charibert. The DRG didn't seem to notice the shortcut (I'm assuming they had just wiped) and took the long way up, so I had a bit of time to take stock of the situation. First thing I notice is that the PLD has 11k HP. They are wearing mostly a mix of i90-i130 gear, with an i115 High Allagan Blade as their weapon, and an i90 ring of slaying.

... welp.

I'm not entirely sure how I managed to keep everyone alive; Charibert was deleting about half the tank's health every few seconds with his tank buster, the tank was making no real effort to dodge the knights, DPS was relatively slow (we killed the final two fireballs *after* his ultimate; luckily before they detonated)... I can see why the last healer left. I couldn't contribute any DPS to speed the fight up as I needed all my MP and Aetherflow for healing, AND I needed Eos out for the second half of the fight; but we took him down in one go.
And of course, no commendations. Gee, thanks. It's not like you just witnessed a miracle or anything.

That's literally almost the same run I had last year, relatively early into me levelling AST. Queued up for Vault, got a party with a Tank that had... suspiciously low hp. Aggro was bouncing EVERYWHERE, but by some miracle we didn't wipe until Charibert (and by miracle I mean the DPS plucking adds off me as I kept everyone alive).
Charibert... Charibert. The PLD, by then I had noticed, was in Ironworks gear... with Ironworks slaying accessories (this was back when ye olde STR tank was viable, I don't miss these times).
PLD proceeds to make no effort to dodge anything, AOEs, Horses, ANYTHING. I'm bled dry MP-wise before the adds spawn because that guy takes so much damage (That was before AST received a certain number of buffs, yargh).

We wipe.
And wipe again.
And again.

I'm a patient player, I suggest the guy dodges.

We wipe again.

Upon respawn I look at the chat box.
"Heal, you idiot," in Say. Now, I repeat, I'm patient, especially with newbies like the PLD, I've grinned and bore my fair share of more than lacklustre parties.
That was the first time I snapped at some random, and a Newbie to boot. The DPS up at Charibert tried to soothe me with emotes, and we wiped again. And again. And once more. My nerves were already snapped, so I apologised to the DPS and initiated a Vote Abandon. That went through in 2 seconds. Didn't go to the Vault in a while after that, lmao.

Is it just me or is there an extremely alarming amount of healers that don't quite know how to...react...

I got Sophia normal in the roulette again, and everything was going along, but people didn't know how to handle the one add so a couple people fell off. I get my swiftcast and raise off, then start hardcasting the next raise.

The WHM just sort of stood there. Didn't even try to raise

He made no attempt to heal the damage that was going out from her double AoE, the boss cut down 3 more people with that while i was still casting the raises. When he finally decided to act, he cast assize and one cure on the remaining tank and i'm just sitting there absolutely flabbergasted. There's no way you can just sit there and not notice that people are dropping like flies.

Healing trials really isn't hard, i can do it while i watch TV, but seriously, this was either severe incompetence or just negligence on his part. That fight isn't hard either, and i could probably solo heal it, but i kind of need some forewarning if the other healer is going to check out for a while.

And sometimes there is real life drama and people have to get up for a minute or two, and i get that, but seriously, it takes 2 seconds to type "RL stuff, AFK"

my recent DF experience since switching to MCH has generally been, the Tank and the Healer arguing with each other about who sucks more, while I'm standing off to the side alternating between shrugging my shoulders and shooting things.

More Sophia Ex today. Finally got my monk fists, and rolled another disappointing 15 on the birb (game why). Runs have all been very smooth. Except my most recent one that I raid finder'd. One of the healers got knocked off during the Aero she does during phase I. And afterwards demanded everyone jump off. All but me and the tank jumped, and then we were both like: "Why did everyone jump. The run was still very much salvageable."

Oh well. Second pull, and I was chosen as the sacrifice by the paladin. First person I attacked was the healer that demanded everyone to jump. XD

I just don't know with some people.

I honestly would have stopped everything, sat down, and actually let a wipe happen at that point. Or, if I was the tank, I would have dragged everything over to her, sat down on her, and did nothing. That's just infuriating. I'm getting mad just reading your post. XD

I can't say I wasn't tempted..
But I generally dislike reacting to rudeness in equal terms.
And it was a guildhest after all, so it's not like her refusal to do anything was stopping us from being able to finish it. It was just really infuriating xD

I'm slightly amused by how wary we already are by now once that situation happens..x)
Decided to get my weekly roulette dungeons through mentor roulette with in-progress checked and exclusively got in-progress The Vault for all 3 runs.
Had about the same thought as you but every run was absolutely smooth and flawless, so I wonder what happened to all those healers.
My condolences that in your case, it went about as well as expected..

But I had a fantabulous Wiping after that horrid ACF run, where I walked away with 5 commends, so I guess it evens out

TL: DR, Goon didn't get her way with a vote dismiss and decided to pretty much afk in the re-run.
Just eat your penalty next time, honey, no one wants to see tantrum fits like that.

I've been on a DPS levelling kick lately (I usually hop in duties on either WHM or AST), meaning I've been able to watch other healers at work for a change. Of course you always get the lazy ones, the DPS-intensive ones, the newbies and the pros, but I've noticed a trend among White Mages that has led to the birth of a new healer I shall call: Medica Mage.

When Medica Mages ask themselves, "what should I do here?", there's only ever one answer: Medica II!
Tank nearly dead? Medica II!
A party member in need of healing? Medica II!
Party dead and you're the last one alive? Medica II!
Do you need Esuna? ...Medica II!

Because who really needs the rest of those pesky buttons cluttering up their hotbar when you can use this miraculous, all-powerful wonder spell!

And please don't ask them about Cure III, it frightens them.

A good tank would've still handled the problem better than he did. There is no excuse for his actions, you don't get to be a dick just cause a 2 second delay happened. Get aggro, control the issue and move on. Crying like a baby cause you lost hate is not the answer. He was a bad tank for his actions.

What'd he do wrong? She made the mistake, he called her on it (any DPS knows not to touch the Qarn heads until they're positioned). They're just too squishy to be fighting over hate, unlike other mobs where it is "eh, whatever". Sorry but, if I was in his position and had a DPS get snarky when they messed up... I'd kick em too. Besides him going "good job, kuppo!" I can't see where the tank is in the wrong or how he's crying like a baby.

Had a... think its Praetorium run earlier. The boss with the claws, tank insisted on tanking in the elctro goop.

You forgot the most important situation:

The entire party at full health? Medica II x2 (I wish I was kidding)

I will never forget the day I happened upon a medica II spammer in LotA. She could have taught the tanks a thing or two about holding aggro. Also, it was the first and only time I have deliberately left my co-healer dead on the floor (she ran out of mp) while I slooooowly walked toward the exit and left the instance.
