Also, having irrational hatred of WoW just makes you look like a biased fanboy. There's a reason it has been rated as the number one MMO more than once. It's an arrogantly stupid idea to not look at successful products in the same line as the product you're trying to sell, just because you think you're better than them. I'm thrilled that SE are taking a step back and looking at other MMOs. It shows they're are willing to learn, and that they are willing to implement systems that are well known and loved.

I don't get it. How does a game become not fun when it's no longer unique?

And this is MMO's we're talking about. FFXI was unique because it tried many things other games weren't doing at the time. A lot of those ideas failed. WoW stepped in and largely became successful because it developed a user-friendly AI. It made sense in the game. I don't see anything wrong with XIV talking notes from that and perfecting a UI that's playable between both mouse/keyboard and gamepad.

Also, did you even see the part where they said PC players will be able to mod the UI? GO MOD IT BACK TO XI if you're that desperate....

A few 'standard' UI adjustments and fluff like achievements does not a WoW clone make.

There is plenty of more original and Final Fantasy style content being introduced that far outweighs the amount of WoW mimicry. But if it really upsets you that much, I recommend waiting for 2.0 and trying out the free trial to see if your fears are justified in your own eyes.

I've yet to read anything in the breakdown that strikes me as a poor design decision, so perhaps you can enlighten us as to what the problem is beyond "It's like WoW".

I haven't played often over the last year or so, simply because I didn't enjoy it. I didn't feel the need to make a post like it's a big deal though.

It was actually nice stopping playing it and then coming back in 1.19, it felt like a huge update and I'm thoroughly enjoying it again.

Wow, even with all of these changes happen, that is not saying we still can't provide feedback. Its it is too much like WoW, then wait for the change to happen and then explain what they need to change about it. This is all planned/concept work at the moment, we will get a chance to have our say.
