Maybe so, but still. Based on the information they have presented, it's not looking good IMO.I get what you're saying, but frankly the difference will lay in the execution of those "staples". Drawing from my own experience, most of what you listed is also present in one form or another in Eve Online, and that game couldn't be farther away from WoW/Rift etc. if you tried.
Chocobos fighting with you? Ruins the uniqueness that pet users have.
Everyone can summon primals they've defeated? What?
Just a couple examples of disappointment.
well my friend i understand what are you saying but the truth is tha the UI its beter and actualy you dont know how the game play its gonna be so ...i think that no one knows anything about the game play of version 2 .
Uniqueness in games is not what the UI ,Graphics ,sound brings but also the atmosphere, the world ,the comunity in the mmos, and the gameplay so ...who knows what it is gonna make you feel at the end my friend ??
also about choco? well have you ever played final fantasy FFXII ? go and see what chocobos are in the videos ? its not just mounts ,also have you ever played final fantasy VIII there was no Summoners as a class ..everyone could summon a primalin the battle "_"
Final Fantasy 6/7/8 all had this with summons
6 had each character equip an Esper
7 was Materia
and 8 each character equipped the summons as well
this would be just like that really.
Yeah, but none of those games were FFXI.
You forget that FFXI is the be all, end all of what FINAL FANTASY is, and anything that's different from FFXI isn't FINAL FANTASY...
I dunno, I guess we'll see. But if Yoshi-P understands the MMO market in its current state (and his actions thus far have demonstrated that he does), he should know that old-school style grinding simply isn't what most people want in a modern MMO.Didn't sound like it to me... Yoshi has already said that a job is a way to specialize your class, and that a job's level is determined by class level. "Jobs progressing through quests", to me, basically means that to get new abilities and to further enhance/specialize your job, you need to do quests. But to actually level it up, you do the same things you do now to level a class.

Are you being serious in this statement? Final Fantasy 7 would be considered the "end all be all" of the series.

Look at his name, than look at his server, than look at his "end all be all" Final Fantasy. He is being quiet serious... yay for FFVII Fanboys I bet if a FF7 Remake did come out they would complain about it not having the same feel that they remember from 1997.

Yeah, it would suck to have a proper translations (for the western players), fully working stats and actual story completion.
Screw that give me the original!
Job progression won't be xp-based. Jobs will start off at level 30 (when they can be unlocked) and will progress through quests to unlock new skills/abilities, etc.
Classes will still progress through leveling, as we do now.
