Don't lock emotes/pets behind items you're not willing to sell to players in countries you service either.

I figure we're too small of a userbase to be worth it, but if Blizzard managed to release a Warcraft cookbook in retail stores down here I don't see why SE can't do it for major items. At the very least, a digital version of the lore book would be nice.

I'd honestly be fine with that. It's something.
Though I'd also like the physical book...

Heck, at least Blizzard offers the ability to ship stuff from their store down here! It's expensive, but not as expensive as having to do it through a reseller/proxy service.
When I mentioned how I didn't like exclusive items being locked behind merchandise, which a good amount of people cannot even purchase without having to pay exorbitant prices (think almost double the cost), in a subscription based game because it just feels so fishy, someone asked me if I would rather have to spend $50 a month on the sub. So. Silly. Merchandise sells plenty well enough without the in game exclusives, and the game functioned well enough before they had a lot of merch.
Also, let's be real, they price stuff higher with the in game bonus attached. Look at the Kuplu Kupo plush and the Mail Moogle plush. They're pretty much the same thing as far as size and stuff goes, just one has a cap and an in game item, yet the one that has a 'free' in game item is priced higher? The prices are definitely combined.
A lot of the playerbase in this game are the casual players, a lot of which I imagine enjoy playing the game to collect a variety of items, and it just plain sucks when stuff is locked behind expensive merch that people may not be able to get if they're not fortunate enough to live in specific countries/areas, or they just don't like the merch itself and have the self control not to impulsively buy it just for the item. Look at what they did with the minions with the fanfest tickets. Say what you may, but Square knows what they're doing, and they're definitely fishing for those people who are big into collecting and desperate enough to spend so much more money on something they might not watch just for those to try to scrape some extra profits in, and I just don't like it. It looks so sleazy.
People who buy the merch have the bonus of having the merch.![]()
