These threads are going to keep popping up as long as AST stays broken like it is right now.

It's nothing to do with AST buffs this is simply something WHM doesn't have.

AST + AST = 1 diurnal AST + 1 nocturnal AST + spread bole and collective unconscious.
AST + SCH = 1 diurnal AST + spread bole, collective unconscious, deployment adlo, succour and sacred soil
SCH + SCH = 1 Eos SCH for whispering dawn + deployment adlo, succour and sacred soil.
WHM + AST = WHM regens + nocturnal AST + spread bole and collective unconscious
WHM + SCH = WHM regens + deployment tactics adlo, succour and sacred soil
WHM + WHM = WHM regens + more WHM regens

Do you not see the discrepancy in shielding here?

And the funny thing is louisoix and yshtola (both conjurers) have been seen to shield people. Loisouix in the ARR opening used what looked like sacred soil to protect the warriors of light from Bahamut. While yshtola is constantly using collective unconscious.

Except I'm not a WHM. My main is PLD and my main healer is SCH, this is simply something I've noticed running in DF and getting double WHMs

They don't balance the game based off possible double stacking of jobs in DF.

This doesn't affect end game raiders (whom would have statics with assigned healer jobs) and it doesn't affect anything outside of Raid Finder (no 8 man duty outside raid finder isn't just faceroll).

So it's a moot point.

WHM are not a mitigation build, they are based on raw healing. You have SS/E4E/Virus, that's all. AST only has mitigation abilities because SE *tried* to balance it with the other healers, each who have their own pro/con. Casual content can be easily cleared with any healer comp.

You can look at the AST mitigation kit as a way to off-set their lesser D.Sect regen healing potency compared to WHM. With up to 20% mitigation with Disable/CU, party takes less damage and has to be healed less. Granted CU has downsides and may not be applicable in every situation, but Disable is really good.

On the other hand, all three tanks each have some sort of raid mitigation utility. Maybe you have a PLD and MNK, maybe you brought a SMN as well. So it's also about coordinating how to lessen damage. Like if you brought 2 WHM to Soph Ex but have people with stacks before Ultimate, a timely PLD Divine Veil and stoneskin(s) as-applicable is your healer shield replacement. It's about working together.

Honestly I would settle with just giving my stoneskin a quicker cast time. I understand not having a global SS if they want to pick at it, but being able to quickly stone someone as a 50+whm due to a trait would be nice...

Why everyone complains about untraited Virus instead of actually learning how to use it? A lot of fights have uses for it even when your co-healer is a Scholar. Also to compensate lack of mitigation they have consistent bursty heals and strong regens while being the only heler with Mind Party Buff, thats the whole identity of the job.

Yes it has the best healing power of all 3 healers but what good is healing when you get 1 shot for your max hp?

Most of the important tank busters ingame are magic based. Yes, virus is nice to have for the few physical busters but you actually have to check battle log/parse to see if virus is actually affecting said buster.

A QoL change for SMN/SCH/WHM/BLM, would be to remove antibody on the untraited version.
