I will be ok with a Viking tank, if their weapon of choice is a Warhammer.

But seriously, if they added Classes instead of Jobs, they could do 2 with 1 like they did with SMN/SCH on ACN.

What would the weapons be?

I vote for one-handed mace (Mjolnir relic gogo) and a shield, but focused more around retaliatory blocks and use the shield more like a striking weapon than paladin does.

Also to differentiate it from warrior, viking could have more magic-based attacks that do lightning, water, or even ice damage. They'd probably have more speed than warriors. kinda like bulkier rogues, and even have Pillage as a skill. For defensive components, they could possibly be built around block strength (paladin is a little more about block rate), and have Pillage as a cooldown to reduce the target's damage dealt and maybe increase damage taken by the target as well.

You know thematically what kind of Viking guard could work well in Ala Mihgo? A job based on the Varangian Guard, which was a Norse group of guards in Constantinople. The Vikings didn't just sail west, they also sailed down the rivers all the way down to the Byzantine Empire. Could be more interesting than just another Viking, could be a Viking with a twist.

viking wont be a thing since we already have an axe user, Much like theif wont be a thing. Also they aren't wrong, Viking and war use the same weapons, Would only work if they gave Vikings hammers

Swords are a lot more diverse than other weapons, animation-wise, Plus PLD had made shields as much their iconic weapon then shortswords
