    Standing around in battle isn't incurring any enmity.
    but once you have enmity, it doesn't just go away.

    Having enmity isn't the same as incurring enmity. Again, incurring means you are actively gaining enmity. If I wasn't posting this on my phone I would quote the patch notes that say you can still gain mana in combat. BTW I've already tested this so arguing to the contrary is pointless.

    PS this has nothing to do with the ifrit battle other than the fact that, aside from a bug, you should be able to gain mana.
