As a healer, is it my job to DPS? A new perspective.

That's really the crux of the issue. If you've played anything besides Healer, the "no DPS" doesn't even occur to you because it doesn't make sense with the way the game plays. But there is a subset of Healers that are trying to play like they're just bad WoW players.

I met one of those healers yesterday. They were playing a tank job.
