"Apartment-style housing will be added. These apartments will have a shared lobby and chocobo stables, which can be accessed by all tenants. Each ward will have one apartment, and it will cost 500,000 gil for a room."
That should settle this discussion. Each ward will get an apartment building. There will be plenty of apartments going around.
I think the only server that won't have enough apartments will be Balmung unless there is one in every subdivision as well. If not that is a little over 18k apartments, if the do that is nearly 37k apartments. If the former than its a bit under the current speculated population of Balmung and would only be enough if you can only have an apartment or a house on a character. If the latter than hell, not even going to bother staying up for patch launch.
Provided their translation is 100% accurate, if this is true I am EXCITED to finally have a chance at housing on a not-dead server.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/304383

I like how we still need a little bit more confirmation. If subdivisions do not count, Balmung may not have enough.I think the only server that won't have enough apartments will be Balmung unless there is one in every subdivision as well. Aren't the 'subdivisions' really just mirrors of the wards, and therefore wards in and of themselves? I don't think there is any reason why the subdivision wards will not have apartment buildings.
The buildings exist in subdivisions. They will be there as well.
I'm wondering where apartment owners will teleport to. My FC house is just to the right of where the entrance for the one in Mist appears to be. Will they tele to the entrance or to the lobby? I'm indifferent to it, just a simple curious thought about how many players I'm going to see wandering past the house that I can wave to.
I'd guess that they will teleport to the gate for the apartment lobby. Apartment lobbies may end up being quite good social environments.I'm wondering where apartment owners will teleport to. I just hope they are larger than the FC rooms, I feel my FC room is more of a storage closet.
