I'm sure the new content on the way is gonna give players more things to grind on. Since these might be insignificant in a little while.
I guess it's the whole out with the old, in with the new.

"Real" Final Fantasy fans and 'enjoying the grind' are not mutually exclusive.

Please don't assume that you can speak for every fan of the series on how they feel about the Anima quest (or any other content for that matter). If you have an opinion, then go ahead and voice it and discuss it. However, there's no need to over-dramatize it just to get attention.

I find your post to be rather rude in the way it is delivered, claiming that casual players don't understand what a "real" Final Fantasy experience should be like. Everyone likes different types of experiences. I am a "real" Final Fantasy fan and while I don't mind a grind, I don't share your enthusiasm for continuing a grind that isn't necessary and no longer serves a purpose.

As for the nerf, this is how the cycle of the game works. It isn't a new concept. Others have stated this as well, but as the relic/anima line progresses and iLevel increases, the previous steps become less difficult to complete because the weapon becomes obsolete.

I find it insulting to players YOU got i240 when it was new and are now upset the gap has been closed. I also laugh as, people beat me to this, SE nerfs steps as soon the gear will be "meh".

A TRUE fan of the game should WELCOME what makes content more accessible. Not everyone likes a mindless grind. You still have Weep and Savage to go hang out with your "hardcore" buddies.

And as someone mentioned, relic is not close to hardcore.... to be frank, its the casual route to a decent weapon. Not to be a jerk, but let's call a spade a spade. Grinding is easier than getting a savage weapon is it not?

The true fan would ask for the relic quest to include ex primals and at least first two floors of savage - then we can talk about keeping the only thing for the true fans difficult. :P

No grinding is not a method of difficulty.

I think they need to think ahead instead of setting, nerfing, setting, nerfing. from now on I am not even going to bother for a year in case they nerf. I was pretty salty when I just collected my last 2 identifieds and then saw this nerf. I hope they make it somewhat right and allow purchase of some pretty good things (like the crystals) with all these remaining idents. What a waste of time that was!

I'm a tad bit confused on how grinding = true final fantasy fan (and I played FFXI for years before we get into that debate). If anything has been insulting in this thread, it's that comment to final fantasy fans who don't agree with the grind.

Also in regards to this thread in general, its an over reaction by far. As someone who played since 1.0, you should know what they're doing right now. Exactly what they've done before...nerfing the older content to get ready for the new one. You're about to get another insane quest to continue your relics power. Relax. They're just not making it more of a nightmare for newer players who have to catch up.

At the end of the day, they ruined item progression in this game. Every update makes previous gear 110% obsolete for endgame. Name the justification in the previous relic grind? There is none. Not one single reason.

I think they actually are thinking ahead. MMOs thrive on content to keep players busy and excited for the game. These nerfs function well in the sense that they get players to pay attention to the next big thing without feeling overburdened by old content.

I'm aware that it does lead to things being obsolete and I don't know how it can sustain itself, however. It'd be cool if the designers would think of a better solution to this issue.

I have done all Relics before any nerfs at all and am completely fine with nerfs. Just makes it so i can do a 2nd, 3rd, 4th Relic, etc.. and not have to endure what had to for the 1st

Mmmmm... nope, can't get on board with you at all. This game is ffxiv: grind. This game has way to much grind as is. Less grind is much needed. Thank you SE!
