Hydaelyn could be a fal'cie.Some tiny problems with that and well rather large one.
They turn to crystal once their task is complete, so by this standard they should be turning to crystal every main story arc they complete. The ones who fail should become crystal husks incapable of even contemplating being an adventurer. You also need Fal'Cie to create and brand them.
The major problem I find with it is that they have a time limit to complete their task, it's not something that fits well with an MMO environment imo.
Is it ever mentioned how long they have to complete task?
It's variable as far as I know, indicated by the changing of the brand.
She just isn't though she's one of two halves of the great crystal. Anyway like I said if that was the case she would brand all of the WoL.

Exactly.. If they had use the one's from the conept art, I would have had way more interest in Au Ra. The art design a the way they look is so much cooler and (not gonna lie) the 1st time I had interest in them lol but didn't get this so I don't care =/


I think it won't be too hard for SE to create a Viera-like race for FF14.
If they want something less human-like, they have the ideas and designs to make it so.
Take a look at the FF12 moogles. They are capable of giving us the Viera without them being Miqote with bunny ears.

With the amount of expressiveness/ emotion given to our player characters, I have to wonder if a completely human like roster is what is intended for this game. Other game out there exist where much more extremes are represented, is it so hard to believe the development team would rather have more human faces to help carry the more dramatic scenes through their animation?
In one particular scene we are told "Oh do not look at me so... a smile better suits a hero." Objectively, honestly who among these could even produce the semblance of a comforting smile?
This isn't that other game, our characters are the heroes, we are supposed to be able to identify with them through an epic story.
