I fear the only thing we can do is report them and hope that SE does something about it.

What even counts as an "okay" player harassment report these days? Me and my girlfriend went into Copperbell NM the other day, since she recently started leveling MRD to learn how to tank. Granted, she's really fresh - but I taught her the basics and on we went. Ended up with a mentor and a non-mentor, neither of which said a word, though my girlfriend was up-front about being new to tanking the duty. After about five minutes, they promptly kicked her and then proceeded to leave the duty themselves, again without saying a word. Clearly, they thought the run was slow but didn't want the 30-minute penalty and so this mentor kicked a newbie for his own gain. What gives? Naturally, I can't report on behalf of someone else, and she didn't seem interested, despite having gotten quite upset over this, thinking she's such a terrible tank nobody wanted to party up with her. Not the way to get newbies to try new things.

That is unfortunate. But fear not. Once the latest "fad" status comes out, I'm sure the trend-hoppers will leave the NN.
I fail to see where any "rule" has been broken. So a mentor paired with a lowbie and queued under mentor roulette. How is that any different than someone spamming leveling roulette with a lowbie partner? Just because a mentor did it? You're calling down punishment on people who are helping other people. The mentors are just getting it to count closer towards their quota for the mount in addition to helping their friend out.A few days ago, I ran about 15 mentor roulette runs in a row. A lot of time, right? Nope. Took about 15 minutes total. The reason for that is I encountered two groups, both of which had a mentor, that were boosting mentor roulette runs of the Guildhest "Under the Armor". For those unfamiliar, the quest takes under a minute to complete.
I had considered taking a break from using the mentor roulette when I got the same group and guildhest time and again, but it dawned on me how messed up it was that I should stop using a feature of the game because some mentors wanted to cheat to get a mount.
Doesn't it seem just a bit hypocritical of you that you were willing to keep queueing over and over again and benefiting yourself, but you reported them for benefiting? You could easily have stopped and queued under another roulette, or run Wiping City or a dozen other truly hard instances for that challenge you wanted, but you didn't. That lessens your argument here because you were more than willing to run with it for your own gain, whatever your protests. Sounds like you harassing them by reporting them to me.

The problem is there should be a rule as it completely breaks the spirit of the game or intention of the roulette. Having a friend to make a low level alt to get through easy mentor roulette is not the intended methodology for the achievement.
That being said, since they are so lackluster with feast, gold saucer games and cheating various other aspects of the game, makes this less critical in priorities of governance.
By no means in it should be valued as okay but sadly, people will get away with it.

The only trend i see here is people wanting to "fix" things that aren't broken. And apparently the Mentor system is the target of the week. Smh
The system is fine as is, its only the mentality of some that needs a change.
Edit: I'll be honest, im only Mentor for the mount. But it doesn't mean im gonna be a complete douchebag to new players. If they ask nicely and more importantly if they are willing to take advices and apply them, i'll gladly help.
But as i said in the other Mentors thread, most will tell you to stfu because they either feel offended when you point out their mistakes.... Or "Lets go stop wasting time talking"!

Adding the mount as a grindable reward was a big mistake. I've come across numerous "mentors" who are completely unashamed of admitting that they're only there for the mount. I'm definitely in favor of sanctions against Mentors that abuse their status, but it's not always easy to pin down a "bad Mentor" - particularly since there's so many different opinions of what makes a mentor bad.
There's nothing wrong with light, breezy chat in the Novice Network. Novice Network should be a friendly place, where players can learn that other players in the game are human beings, just like them. Explicit ERP, though, is a reportable offense. Report the offenders when you see it happening.

You know what they should have done?
Don't add a reward in the Mentor roulette.
Simple as that. You remove the reward, and then people who do the mentor roulette is mostly there to, you know, mentor. I never understood why they decided on that. They opened the door for any one Tom, Dick or Harry to come in and just do it for the reward. While the tomes, I'm sure, are nice, having that reward just made it all sorts of complicated.
It's a shame. I've heard horror stories from people who are supposed to be the folks that show how good the game can be with a good party or how good the community should be, and yet, they do a disservice so many times.
Sorry to hear about your experience, OP. Hope things get better.
