On a scale of 1 to 5-- Do you feel SE listens to their western players? State why.

I feel like they listen to us for all the "wrong reasons" because the NA players have this "Special Snowflake Syndrome" and believe that 14 bucks a month means the Dev team has to create the game to cater solely to them. Instead of making constructive posts we'd rather fuss and argue about Gender Equality, Glamour, act like the Cash shop items are P2W and being given gear equal to players who put in more effort because "We Pay 14 bucks a month for this game".

The issue is this "NEW" Generation of mmo players and gamers period. They are overly entitled, want the games to practically be played for them, then complain when you can beat the game by licking the keyboard or controller.

The people who actually have constructive comments get drowned out by the people who would rather repost and like the same mundane posts over with no new solutions to the issue.

Afcourse we are entitled, if one half of the playerbase gets the option to get more glamour, isnt it only fair to request for the other half to get it aswell? SE has made glamour an important part of this game, alot of casuals only do dungeons for those glamours. Can you imagine how pissed one would be to find out that they can not wear X or Y armour, because there is no gender X or Y?

Players that make those threads about Gender Equality only want one thing: fair distribution of glamour, if you are making an outfit, make one for the other half. Players talk and complain about alot of things, but when it comes to Gender Equality and Glamour, they are and should be entitled to fair treatment.

One could say that the players who want one gender to have more glamour are those that are suffering from the Special Snowflake Syndrome.

^ Special SnowFlake posting at it's finest. Someone would take part of what I said and try to twist it to suit their agenda. NO one wants the clothing to be imbalanced. I'm pretty sure there are two types of people when it comes to glam people who care and people who don't.

The point was that those types of posts are rampant & excessive. Whether the males have 20+ pieces of clothing less than the females is a minor problem compared to the deeper underlying issues with the game that is driving the player activity down. Pretty sure Glam isn't going to make or break this game.

If you want to pay 14 bucks a month to play "Dress-up" That's your business BUT the game wasn't created to be a Fashonista's Paradise it was created to tell a good story with engaging content.

Posts like the one you make which are out of place and over acknowledged constantly derail the Forums which is why constructive criticism gets drowned out.

Also, I have no intentions of derailing or assisting in this thread being hi-jacked by posters like you. This is last i'll speak on the glam subject because I feel like it's an attempt at doing the very thing that happens to the forums every day someone posts something constructive comes back 4 hours later it's on page 9 while Cringe Threads like marriage hook-ups, glam equality complaints and "who wants to marry your favorite NPC?" threads dominate page 1.

I'd say at most a 1.5 if that's allowed.

We have very little community representation, the GMs on our board are as mystical as a blue moon, only showing up when something gets a high level of upvotes from what I can tell. They don't even engage in general discussion, it would be a good sign if we had GMs show us proof they play this. It's like SE lists on their job responsibility page that GMs have to be antisocial.

As far as things getting translated into game, obviously that's awful, ya, they added a few things this community called for but really there is a ton of things they drop the ball harder then Shaq at the free throw line, things that could make the game all the more better.

I mean, I've been away from this game now for 3 weeks, prior to that I was doing every Tuesday, but now I'm playing other games that are more engaging, that brought out new content, and feel more complete. I've got no reason to play here, don't even want my Wild Rose vet reward.

So no, I don't think they do a good job at all. And it's a shame too, 840 days subbed, all the effort I put into the game, and I feel like in the end SE doesn't even care.

It could be far worse, though. In FFXI, western players weren't even an afterthought. In that game, you would never be able to report a translation error in the English version and have devs actually respond and fix it.

Do you remember when GM's would show up in XI and everyone would rush to that area b/c it was so cool to see how they were outfitted and we knew they played the game we loved. I mean I know that is random as hell to bring up but I was such a fan girl of them showing up as a horde in game in a new area just to show us they were there.

I don't know what you mean by you "didn't get it your way" I never stated a way that I wanted and honestly I would be fine with having to buy a magazine for the codes if it were Edge or any other magazine that wasn't utter garbage. I'm still saying they don't listen to us though, 80 odd pages of people just wanting some answers and we never got anything other than the rules typed out a little clearer.

It's wasn't intended as a specific direction at the example you used nor was the term 'you' meant to apply to any one person necessarily. I intended it as a broader comment than that but assuming you fit the criteria in the case of the magazine example then it would have applied, yes. I wasn't trying to pick at you specifically but I apologise for coming across that way.

This trend toward rng is catered to the eastern playerbase.
This type of feature seems prevalent in ftp imports ported over to the west, but I don't like to see it in a sub based AAA mmo.

Then we have the most recent events:
PotD - with the well published outcome of intentional wiping, quitting at last boss etc - which is still occurring after the recent changes.
Yo-Kai - pure imported......well let's just say not to my taste.

I feel a re-visiting of the ARR game's roots by the development team would be welcome. A return to a more story aligned focus and less 'fluff' content.

I would really welcome a Garlean invasion about now.

Under considerable pressure they will communicate with the fans, but let's be honest, it is not like it once was. In addition, whether it is the lack of communication or the release schedule or the devs inability/unwillingness to do so, there are long term problems with the game that have yet to be fixed. Chocobo companion, RMT, the token treadmill becoming old hat and discouraging players. Walking back statements and promises don't help.

I feel the best example of this is Lords of Verminion, people wanted pet battles but we got a clunky and rather simple RTS.

I think you may have unintentionally highlighted something else - us, as players, misconstruing the motivation behind a particular addition or change.

Lords of Verminion, for example, came about because they originally made an April Fools joke of a MOBA/RTS going into this game, which itself was a reference to another SE game that is part card collecting part MOBA style (over the shoulder style like Smite) named Lords of Vermilion. That idea then apparently proved to have enough of a positive response that they decided to make it a real thing.

It wasn't a response to a general request for pet battles, it was a response to a specific thing they had joked about before.

As for the OP - like some others, I won't put a score on it, as I feel like "listening to the players" is a more nuanced situation than a simple rating warrants.

Hahahah @ the "listen to the jp" replies. Yeah lemme tell ya...blizzard totally listened to their NA players and Oh look at that...they have the most subs and success.

I've never played wow but I have a ton of friends that did/do and they all tell me they love the game because the GMs listen and they all feel the developers listen. Even when going to a random forum or fb page its clear to see blizzard listens to their players. I am also best friends with a blizzard dev and yes he says they do listen. Or at least they make their customers feel as of their concerns are valid.

So, let's see how listening to mainly only one side keeps workin out. Everyone acts entitled, stop putting a race of people on a pedestal, it's embarrassing . Do you ever go to 2chbbs? That is entitlement +1. Do you even know how the jp on there mocked ffxiv, held a funeral for 1.0 and demanded wow and said f ffxiv they are going to play wow? I wonder how many here praising the jp player base actually read their posts and know what I know.

Also I don't really feel like ffxiv devs listen anymore, they did in 1.x days, now the most popular threads get ignored. They used to be fantastic with listening, now..not really. Live letters are rather boring...i mean look at the last one, they answered a bunch questions from balmung about emotes and furniture's...while ignoring all the huge threads lol...

Funny, most of the threads the past couple years over there have been about the developers not listening, or criticizing various decisions made the past couple expansions.

It's even gotten worse in the past couple weeks.
