It won't work. If all the current daily tripe they have in the game won't make players log in then this won't either. The only thing that will get players to log in during late-patch is for SE to make content that will last through to late-patch.Hun you must not know about the roulettes, beast tribe dailies, etc. yet. Dailies are practically the same thing as a log in bonus, but with a more substantial reward, that takes way more time than a log in bonus.
I'm for this idea 100%, then my FC members who barely log in during the late-patch doldrums might log in every day.

Exactly. This is for fun. Yes we get veteran rewards and stuff. But it's still for fun. If you don't have fun, don't play. Don't be tied to a game just because it gives you a little something. Because guess what, that little something is for you to play in the end. Oh the irony...
I dont log in everyday because I get a reward, I log in because there's things to do that are fun. I don't consider roulettes and dailies a reward for logging in, I believe the OP doesn't even mean that since that is part of the game. Seriously guys, get off your throne...

As much as I don't like the idea of encouraging people to log in, collect rewards, and log off, I think this would be a much better way to go about things than what we have now. A forced weekly cap on tomes just burns people out, and in the long run makes people want to quit because if they fall behind they feel like they are being left out or forced out of gear. With a log in bonus people are more likely to log in and hopefully continue to play because they're getting their participation reward without missing out on too much if they don't.

Nope. If these people who don't normally play because they dont like it or are bored, and get the "log-in rewards", they will just do that: log in, take the reward, /shutdown. No reward is going to make people stay if they don't like the game or get bored soon.
As someone said before, nothing is going to make people log in and play if they are not pleased with the game in the first place. And those of us who do stay and play because we like it, do we need a reward for that? We have it already. I feel enough princessy with that.

Why are you resorting to name calling? Its just an idea for people who actually play the game and not those who just come on every so often. Its nothing game breaking what so ever. How is this an issue? If people think it then becomes a job to log in for a silly small bonus then they are playing wrong and its an issue with themselves not the game.I just... can't even...
Just wow... taking the game as if it was a job. Reward for this, reward for that... How about you just play for the fun it provides? You little princesses, why do you guys feel so entitled to everything that you expect rewards for every little fart you let out?
Honestly, we shouldn't need an incentive to play the game aside for fun. I haven't logged in to do my roulettes or even beast tribe dailies for days because it's simply not fun anymore, a daily login bonus would not change any of that in a meaningful way.

Its not suppose too! Its just small fluff added to logging in. Maybe its extra tomes or maybe its a glamour item. Its not there will be a alex midas weapon or anything.....
Then what's the point of it in the first place? A login bonus is supposed to encourage players to play (or at least, log in) every day. Honestly, they're adding so much fluff it's to the point that it's taking away from the enjoyment of the game (especially when it's at the cost of content, which they have mentioned on record). I want logging in to be something I want to do, not something that I should feel obligated to for a daily reward.

I don't actually see the harm in this. For everyone saying it's stupid and unnecessary, let me frame it like this: What if they improved the rewards during patch lulls, when they see that less people are logging in. Would this be enough to improve player retention? even if people did just log on and claim the rewards, they have made the effort to log on for a bit, and perhaps will stay logged on.
One of my biggest complaints with XIV is the content injection/content lull system (somewhat improved by putting content in .05 patches). There is no cycling and variation throughout the patch cycle and people get burned out on it. I feel that a log in bonus would be an artificial way to begin to improve this, with more people logging on (and paired with additional bonuses to random content on different days).
