In 1.0 they did data mine hints towards a whip class user. Granted that is 1.0 and a whole new team is at the helm. But it was at least considered. For 4.0 I think it's a safe bet that we will see samurai, and a red or blue mage.

Would like to see a Necromancer using a Scythe as a weapon. Would be nice to have a dark like casting class/job.

What if, wild and crazy idea here, to kind of satisfy some of these needs without needing to create entire new jobs, what if some of these ideas were added to current job off-hands? Raise the level cap, new skills and all that could rely on that off-hand weapon for versatility. It would be maybe a bit disappointing to new/mid players, to not get access to that until 60s, but it can be waved off with a simple "you need to master your skills before you expand your training." It wouldn't be a thing you'd be wielding simultaneously, but something to swap or use as needed.
Samurai would be great to have or any job that uses swords other than tanks.

A DPS sword user would be great, or even a skill tree option that could turn a tank class to a dps variant, since really, theyre melee with scaled down damage though in some cases(Fell Cleave) they can deal some good damage

Well. Because this game is a Final Fantasy, I will put here Final Fantasy classic jobs:
- Samurai: Tank, using Katanas, specialliced on evade/parry tank and caster type combat, simialr to bard/machinist, but only on DPS stance. Tank stance needs movility, so no castings here.
- Sword Mage: Also knows as Mystic Knight. A DPS class wich uses scimitars/1 handed swords and enchanted them with spells (usually elemental spells, but elements in this game are not a thing...)
- Dancer: A non magic healer which fight with Chakram/Fan (cannot be daggers for ovius reasons) and uses TP fo skills and MP for dances, similar to a Bard. Can use differens dances to enhance party or detriment enemies.
- Red Mage: A melee support which uses boh magic and physical attacks. Fights with a rapier/1 handed sword and uses combinations of support and ofensive spells.
- Geomancer: Magic class healer which wields a bell and uses the power of nature to heal and attack. In some way, is very similar to conjurer/white mage, so I guess is not possible now.
- Beast Master: Pet oriented class which uses a Whip. They fight commanding his pet (in a more direct way than Summoner) and uses his abilities to enhance pets power.
- Puppet Master: This is no classic, because only exist 2 games with this one, Final Fantasy IV The After Years (Luca can control Calcabrina Dolls) and Final Fantasy XI. An alternative to Beast Master, this one uses Puppets, which can be his own weapons or a summoned pet. Like Beast Master, they fight 80% with pets.
An now, some classes that can be interesting, but how the hell implement in this game...
- Blue Mage: Difficult to implement in this game. Cannot be a tank because is a mage. So they need put a way to learn enemy skills without being hit. Something similar to Lancet, a skill uses by Kimahri in Final Fantasy X to learn enemy skills or by using items, similar to Quistis on Final Fantasy VIII. Also this game follows a specific skill learn way. A level 70 Blue mage which have not all spells or pecificspells can difficult their access to duties because, we know, the FFXIV community sometimes sucks a lot demanding people having determined things (I've see a lot of people complaining because conjurer have no swiftcast for not level thaumaturge...)
- Chemist: We have already a alchemist. Difficult to add without being redundant.
- Mime: How the hell you can implement this?
I will clarify, I make the list with the current system in mind. hat's why I didn't consider any mage as tank class.

Hmmm.. what if the next tank is whip-style with hints of beastmaster?
I'd like to see a new dps mage that isnt quite as stationary as BLM but not reliant on DoTs either. Something themed by future-esq tech would be nice.
.
I'm all for a beastmaster with a whip as long as it has more of a focus on commanding and ordering the pet than smn. I.E. imagine all of the oGCD abilities for beastmaster is you ordering the pet to do an attack. That way it feels as though you're actively commanding the pet to fight with you.
As far as the future-esque tech goes, I imagine we could get something like that if/when we go to the Garlean empire, as I recall actual Garleans can't use magic/aether so having a technology focused healer makes sense since they would need some form of tech healing to replace it.

Hmmmmm............
Rinoa had a weird weapon.
