About the EU campaign for maid outfit and fat chocobo

I just hope we get some real clarification and information. Not vague responses in PR speak that already tell us what we know already. It's a shame there isn't a Live Letter within the next week or so because that would be the perfect chance for the developers themselves to weigh in on the issue. I can't help but wonder if they're even aware of this though - but hopefully if there's a Q&A session they'll respond to a question regarding the current situation.

I've now looked in a few WHSmiths in central London, as well as 3 or 4 newsagents close to where I work. I commute so I've also checked a couple of the big supermarkets near me as well. None of them had a single copy of GM. I'm not really surprised - it's a pretty small magazine these days, and seems like a pretty poor choice for this sort of promotion. At least if this was Edge or Games TM you'd stand a good chance of finding a copy on shop shelves.

This promotion seems like it was poorly thought out from the start. I don't doubt these items will appear on the Mog Station this time next year, but if this is how Square Enix plan to handle cosmetic giveaways going forward (as opposed to timed ingame events), then I'm likely to reconsider my subscription. I'm not interested in traipsing around looking for a needle in a haystack. It seems so short sighted, given that the JP and NA giveaways were not artificially limited in the same way.

Seeing how little SE thinks of it's customers right now, I do not regret for a single moment that I encouraged my American fiance to take advantage of the amazon promotion. They think little of us and it has nothing to do with how the NA campaign went, this had to have been planned out long before.

I decided I wasn't even going to try with this promotion when I seen all that was involved with it. I refuse to spend £15 on scrap paper for some glamour and to send a photo just to prove I did for the mount.

I can only hope the other EU campaigns are better and also not limited in quantity like this one is. If people try to fulfill the requirements for this campaign but are unable to get a hold of all the codes, then they're only going to have to take part in a whole other campaign to get the maid outfit and/or chocobo anyway. And if they are limited quantity too then... It's just this all over again. We could end up throwing our money away in campaign after campaign and just not get lucky enough to complete the collection. The demand for these items isn't going to drastically decrease through campaigns like this, it's going to stay the same amount of competition between players for each campaign if they're all limited quantity.

Our local Asda had 7 copies unopened and 2 that had been opened already (no idea if codes were still inside) this morning. I imagine it has a good sized order being a London based supermarket with a large amount of footfall but this really really sucks. The lack of response comes as no surprise but is disappointing beyond words.

So am I right in hearing that the online store is now showing out of stock? I already ordered my copy but I raised this concern about 20 odd pages back. How can we be certain we will get a copy when the magazine has such a low printing amount, will they make more just for us? Square Enix have basically put our codes in limited supply whereas in America and Japan there were unlimited codes just limited to a time frame.

We may have said that we disliked the promotion before or that it wasn't 'fair' but even if we comply with the promotion itself and give it a shot, we can't even get a code 100% of the time due to the low circulation of the magazine? That's beyond unfair.

Here's a question SE can answer. SE provided them with a certain amount of codes, how many codes remain unused just so people know how hard they will have to look to find one? Like whether there are hundreds of thousands in which case your local store might still have one or are there dozens, hundreds or even a few thousand in which case you may need to travel with width and breadth of the entire UK checking every corner shop and newsagents to find them since the publisher has zero left in-house.

Much worse, more like 5-6 HOURS! They went up for sale online at ~9.45am this morning, someone in this thread posted at 4pm saying sold out at that point!

Yeah, it definitely feels like it.

I've never seen a GamesMaster in a decade, heck, finding anything bar the 'Official PlayStation' or 'Official Xbox' magazines is impossible...and I wouldn't buy them anyway.

That they have then sold out because they are using physical issues...it really does boggle the mind. I would have loved the NA deal, and been okay with the Japan deal (though it would not doubt have issues here in the UK anyway) but all I can hope for now is either the Mogstation, or another EU country deal that seems reasonable.

That said, it reminds me of the really dodgy company they used for Credit Card payments in the UK during 1.0 that no one had heard of either - needs to be more local knowledge used for these kind of things.
