The DPS check and even overall difficulty of Nidhogg EX is actually kind of scary.
...meaning the whole thing is far too easy for an "extreme" and I hope it's not a sign of future extremes to come.

The magical thing about SSS is that there is no lockout on it. When I was pushing myself as an i220-222 BLM trying to clear the A7S SSS, I didn't stop trying because I got it down to 7% my first attempt. I kept doing it over and over again looking for ways I could improve. Without any change in gear that 7% went down to 5% then down to 3% then down to 1% and finally 0% and even once I cleared it, I kept doing it to make sure that clear wasn't due purely to lucky procs. As you stated, you made a mistake and that cost you the clear. The test is, was that mistake a fluke, or is it something you consistently do? The only way to tell is to keep doing the SSS to see if you keep making that mistake or if it was a one time thing.

I don't think that counts since you're using a 235 weapon and mostly 240 gear.
Reason I didn't use proper i220 gear is because I don't have it anymore. But it all boils down to attack power and secondaries in the end, and I have waaay less attack power than a i220, even considering Weapon Damage.

32 less AP than a full i220 set, and 2 extra weapon damage on a full i220 set, which punching in the numbers looks like about a 2-3% dps loss over what you're using, so I guess at full 220 would still be a clear, albeit a much tighter clear.

Just tried this out on i221 MNK, had no neck/bracelet below i240 so I used a 210 chest and head which is by far a larger difference. Cleared it on the first try, though it was close.
Aight, found my old gear in my armory chest (thought it was in my retainers, guess I have some inventory to clean up lol) and will edit in a bit.

It was easier after all

Are you sure it's a dps issue?
If it is adds phase, maybe dps are getting 'Damage Down' debuff.
If you are wiping at fangs, it's most likely people are failing mechanics.
If it is the last phase, you can do it even with one dps down.
"BAAAAAARD!" - 2018

I joined a learning party on dps after farming it (upwards of 70 clears) on DRK (MT) and WAR (OT). I was on my best geared dps, DRG, and figured this was fair as I was learning it on dps, a scholar friend hadn't gotten his clear yet and the tank spots were taken. The few runs we did were messy and pretty bad, deaths on divebombs, slow dps on adds, tanks dying at adds. One of the dps used the LB on one of the adds and I warned him if he had to use the LB there it would be a problem later. His response was "this is a learning party." I said, "then you should learn to do it the right way." I dropped pretty shortly after because it was late, I was tired, and it was doubtful the party would ever get past adds. Two of the dps only had 200 weps. (Idk about actual dps, I don't use that program we don't speak of.) After I dropped my SCH friend said "the ninja told them your dps wasn't that good anyhow."
If the group can't make it I was not the one making or breaking that phase.
