Had a half hour run of ARF with an i215ish BLM and a green leaf nin who was doing the dungeon for the first time. The blm had an entire skill repertoire of fire III , fire II, thunder II and blizzard III. He used quelling strikes once (lol) and scathe once, but other than that no other skills the entire dungeon. No enochian, no ley lines, no thunder III on procs, no flares. The nin who was still wearing leveling gear as it was his first 60 dungeon out-dpsed the blm on every boss. I spent the entire dungeon oom, as by the time I had burnt shroud and assize to holy spam all the mobs would still be at 50% hp with me at 15% mp.

That one day you do expert roulette and get a Thamaturge! Interest piqued, I ask, "where's your soulstone?" And he replies, "I see the potential of Thamaturge in 60 content." The warrior of the group proceeds to ask, "why is your entire left side vit accessories?" In which he replies, "I main PLD and needed the iLvl boost to do this as a Thamaturge."

With him cheating iLvl requirement using fending accessories lets just say he was removed unanimously voted off the island.

Took a break from FFXIV and came back on a fresh character to visit with friends. Queued into Sastasha as a MAR with greys and a couple greens I shelled out for to ease the enmity issues.

Double BLMs immediately burst different targets. BLMs and healer then proceed to run ahead, pull for me, and pull extra mobs. You know, the usual stuff people do to tanks before they ask why there's a tank shortage.

I didn't play along. Single-target DPS on a mob of my choice, Bloodbath if the healer was dead, and no Overpower if they dragged more to me. No CDs or AOE unless they let me pull, which they did a few times.

I'm just glad it was a 40-minute Sastasha with multiple wipes and plenty of gear wear instead of the clean 20-25 minutes it could have been.

Before going to bed I decided to to do leveling roulettes on my Behemoth & Lamia characters. Things went smoothly for my little Au Ra at the "Cool Kid's Table" (got a new tank, so I restrained myself from going all out and ripping aggro from the tank) but the ride was a little bumpy for my Roegadyn on Lamia. My fellow damage dealer, a Monk, frequently decides to pull on behalf of the tank. Sure, the tank handled it, but at the end, they expressed that they didn't like that the Monk was doing the pulling. The healer & I agreed with the tank. Personally, I'm not above the "If you pull it, you tank it" motto.

Queued for Trial Roulette with my boyfriend. I'm on AST and he's on WAR. Ravana pops. He OT's. I have an Extended Balance in my hand so I give it to him for his 2x Fell Cleave. He mains tank so I have full faith in his OT DPS, but the other AST decided to get upset about it, and not just upset, but hostile. And then claimed they were "just trying to help their stupid co-healer" saying their Nin friend deserved the card... even though they had a card in their hand... and didn't use it... and didn't Draw another for at least a minute...

My first Wiping City run on week one I had to do (I think) mostly DF. Somewhere around Ozma my co-healer leaves after a few wipes. No replacement comes. Well, we clear it, and proceed to Calofister.
Then I realize "oh crap, the pally in my group is the only one who's willing to tank this, and apparently the only one competent enough".
And so I had to soloheal my first encounter with the final boss. We wiped once (to people simply dying so much we decided to just reset as the DPS was abysmal), but after that we did clear it.
My group, myself and the tank excluded, was mostly dead throughout most of the fight. Not even necessarily due to terrible playing, but because I simply had no time or capability to really AoE heal (being SCH) and everyone still having some trouble grasping Haircut back then (myself included, I was just able to survive it by Lustrating myself...)
Was an interesting first experience of that, but worked to teach me what the boss does pretty well.

When I asked why he was only using the Riot Blade combo, he said because he thought it did more damage. As I was typing out the differences between riot blade and savage blade he actually read the skill descriptions of the two and realized his mistake. He then started using his savage blade combo and was doing better at holding aggro. I made sure to send him to the hall of novice as well to at least get the ring and help him out with some pretty simple basic stuff.

This is the first time I hear about a Riot Blade spammer actually listening to the advice regarding combos. And one of the few times it has not been an obvious bot. Makes me happy to hear this.
The content of this post of yours is basically my favorite stuff that can happen in the game. Older players being nice to the new ones and and giving kind words of advice. Makes me think back fondly to all the times I've been in one or the other of the positions...

Playing as Bard and Roulette 60 gave me Lost City of Amdapor HM. I had more HP than tank. Perhaps because I using 1 Ring of Fending (and Ilvl 226) xD



Tank 18k HP, 19k HP for me.

Well, after Roulette Leveling gave me The Aery in progression. After kill first boss, tank leave saying busy with irl things. Next tank leave after died in normal pull. And then I voted abandon. Next attempt is Dzemael Darkhold with progression 0 minute xD Enter and was only 1 dps quit. Finish without wipes.

Was tanking Ifrit once as PLD, loaded in, did a ready check, went to shield lob it and before I could get in Melee range my blm starts dpsing so he takes aggro. No problem I think. I hit provoke and am about to use my savage blade and hes already taken aggro back. So I politely ask him to stop dpsing for 2 seconds while I grab the aggro because I don't exactly have a ton of emnity generation skills while sync'd to lvl 22.

To which he replies with an angry all caps message... something along the lines of 'DPSING IS MY JOB, TANKING IS YOUR JOB AND YOU CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE DOING' proceeded to hit sprint and run around the arena like a headless chicken. One of the most painful runs as a tank i've ever experienced. Luckily the rest of the party had my back and he calmed down a little bit, eventually.

There was another time when I was healing Sunken Temple as WHM. About 1/2 way into the dungeon no one had died (or come close) everyone was appropriately healed and buffed and I got vote kicked out of nowhere :c just sat there for a min in confusion but it did make me laugh.
