I can understand your sentiment, but the problem is when you're doing content thatrequires someone to have been a 60 for a long time and they are playing their class in a way that their performance significantly slows down their group. There are no alternate playstyles or nonsense about "playing how you want to." Each dps class only has one rotation and one way to play it correctly. You're profile says you're a 52 dragoon so I'll assume you know at least the basics of the Job, I was in Sohr Khai a few weeks back with a 60 drg (the dungeon requires an ilevel of 205, which means this person has to have been 60 for a while) and they only used three attacks. Heavy Thrust, True Thrust, and Impulse Drive. They did not use any jumps, did not use any combos, and did not use any cooldowns. When I called them out on it they said "I'm playing fine, no one ever complained before."

They legitimately believed this was a correct way to play and with their gear (mostly 220-230!) they should have been top DPS, instead they were below the healer who was only healing on the threat meter. I had to leave the group because we could not beat the dps check on the second boss. That is not an acceptable way to play. At that point the person should have been aware of even the most rudimentary basics of their class, they were honestly the worst dragoon I've ever seen and I told them as much before I left the group. I don't care if it's their 15 dollars a month, it's not worth more than the 45 dollars of the rest of the group.

To be honest, regardless of stances, on my Scholar, at the lowest level dungeons, I can AFK while my fairy does all the work.

Reported a sch for doing this in Totorok. He was obviously afk and letting his fairy do all the work and even said as much at the end of the dungeon. I reported him and the GM told me that it would've made him upset and that action would be taken. Take from that what you will.

I feel like this idea should work in your favor; the bonus is the incentive for you to practice! If you wanted to become better at tanking, you could practice with friends until you saw your bonus improve. I'm not saying it'd happen over night, but why wouldn't you want a small pat on the back for deciding to try and get better as a tank? And if you don't want to be good at tanking, that's fine too! Play what you're comfortable/happy with.

Here's a suggestion after reading just the first post.

How about you do you and let everyone else do what they're going to do. Bad experiences in DF are incredibly rare and if you're having a higher amount than say, 1 in every 100 DF runs, then the problem is most likely you.

Divine Seal + Medica 2 and regen on the tank. Slip into that sexy cleric stance and go ham! With how overgeared most tanks are at this point, I rarely even need to drop the stance during pulls. It's beautiful~

Until the next expansion comes and you can get the older sexy armors by doing all the content at +10 Lv and x2 iLv because the Undersized Party feature doesn't require that the members have learned the fight and won it legitimately before.

Or it was the most popular gear set in the previous expansion, so it gets a crafted iteration that can be dyed. ;D

Don't forget that the mats are significantly much cheaper and is made available to everyone when it was formerly an exclusive.

I'm sure it may have been mentioned somewhere in this 12 page thread that I didn't bother to read past the OP's post, but it honestly comes down to what the person is doing. Personally speaking, I can only care being a 'serious' gamer for so long till being mediocre is good enough to still reach the same result. Sure having everyone being in top performance can get things done faster, but in this game gear can play a role in that as well, not just skill. A calculator wont work out well either since it'll mainly go based off of how many abilities have been used and so on to make it easier to track which isn't possible to tell if it fit the situation or not. People will always choose to work smarter (sometimes lazier) versus harder to reach the same result.

The idea that healers don't DPS is weird to me, but maybe that's because when I queue for something I always intend to give it my all. By that I mean, all of my attention and all of my effort. That's just how I am.

Why wouldn't I DPS when on a healer role instead of just standing around? Obviously if it's dangerous to do so for whatever reason I'd focus on healing. But, I mean, generally you'd want a run to go faster rather than slower, right? Also, you'd want to actually play the game, right? I wouldn't find a game fun if I just AFK'd and let my fairy heal a dungeon, or just stood around waiting for someone to take damage. I want to help my party succeed.
