and this is one reason why Tank player base has a bag reputation. The tank Players who only play Tank Job for instant queues and rushing through content never bothering to help new players because "F**** New Players! I get Instant queue as a Tank and want to get things done now!" attitude certain Tank Players have.

Had a cringe-worthy expert roulette last night. Sohr Khai. Me (DRK), BLM (actually a friend queued with me but he doesn't play BLM very often anymore), SCH, and MNK. Immediately I notice the DPS is pretty slow. Mobs taking a long time to die. BLM has a lot more hate on anything than the MNK and SCH isn't DPSing in the slightest. But I didn't say anything because a) My tank DPS isn't the most fab in the world either and b) I'm not a jerk.

Then BLM-friend pulls a mob before I can get to it because he wants to keep enochian. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with that, but it's the annoying fan right before the three sleeping rocks, so now we have a dead fan right in the middle of our rock mobs which are all pushing each other out of the way to get to me, causing me to have to move the mobs way out of the way to get their backs clear for the MNK so he doesn't keep repeatedly flying off... This is when I started to feel like :/ *grumble*

First boss went down okay, if slowly, although I didn't have a single cooldown left at the end (not even Living Dead) because my HP was hovering veryyyy low due to lack of heals. (No, I didn't get hit by the Vuln down, thankfully, or we all would have died.) We make it through the trash before the second boss okay and the DPS actually felt like it sped up a little, so I was thinking things were fine. Second boss... For some reason MNK is in Fists of Wind and forgets to switch it out for Fists of Fire. I should have said something, but at this point I kind of had a morbid fascination to see this stuff unfold. Second boss takes a good long while but at least we don't wipe.

Finally we make it to the last boss, and I was like "Apologies in advance, this fight is a lot of stupid jumping around." Sucks for everyone, seems like it would especially suck for MNK and BLM. We start, it's going okay-ish. Then the MNK goes from alive to 110% dead just like that (ice ball and giant sky laser and no heals one after another?) and not long after I follow because no Adlo, no Physick, not even a Whispering Dawn thrown my way... I get raised, provoke boss immediately, healer dies to not dodging ice or dragon head after not healing herself. Wipe #1. I don't want to call anyone out, I know this can be a pain to heal when you're trying to keep everyone in range, etc. So we start again with nothing said. Healer doesn't dodge anything, doesn't heal herself, dies again. Wipe #2. This time I go "Well, let's try to dodge a bit more! XD" BLM does the very opposite of dodging and fails to get out of the way of Hraesvelgr's first charge (*facepalm* I don't know this guy, I swear >_>), leaving me with one DPS and a healer who is not DPSing at all. There is no way that we can kill it before we run out of pillars to stand on, especially because this MNK seems like nice guy but his DPS... is abysmal. Like I was keeping up the Delirium debuff on the boss 100% of the time because the MNK never once used Dragonkick level of bad. On the fourth try, we FINALLY clear. After we get out, BLM friend (who was parsing to try to improve his own DPS) informs me that the MNK did less DPS than me, the tank with Grit on.

TT^TT 45 minutes of my life I will never get back!

Hell with them, man. I say "thank you for your bonus," explain all the fights, and do a ready check for good measure.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, one of the tanks during Main Scenario was new and everyone was just like, "Cool, watch the cutscenes. We're gonna dance!" It was really fun. Before the fight with Gaius, everyone was emoting at him and the MCN accidentally shot him.

Same thing happened to me on Ravana Hard. One person asked for a brief rundown as he admitted to not having done the fight in a long time while at least two others were new. Tank chimes in with "dodge the aoes!" and immediately pulls. What irritated me though is one of those players was the OT, who didn't realize Ravana will spam attack him, so he kept cleaving them into me I presume to "dodge". That's fine, he didn't know. But the healer wouldn't revive me or another player-- instead tunnel visioning the MT despite having plenty of opportunities where he had full HP. Great first experience that was for me.

We did still clear, but two people were knocked off and two dead, all because the MT couldn't wait a minute for people to explain the fight.

I just had the most amazing healer in Ex roul, my friend and I were basically just going "this is brutal" in our linkshell.
Caster body dropped at the end. Healer asks if they can have it.

I rolled need on it before they said that, assuming it was an upgrade, and say so in party chat. Get the coat. Leave duty. Try to put on my upgrade.

I forgot I got the Yafaemi Coat of Casting last week.

Had a tank who thought grabbing too many mobs and then "kiting" them was a viable option.


Also, people who haven't gotten their jobs yet in high level content. (Saw a 56 CNJ this afternoon)

My friend was in bismark with a level 57 Gladiator once ._.

And kiting actually does work as a last resort ._. I've had to do it before when I (as a PLD) ran out of ALL my CD's due to low DPS. Avoiding 1 or 2 hits every few seconds can actually be the difference between living and dying sometimes. But granted, if you got melee DPS, this becomes a nightmare for them, but if you get to the point where kiting is needed, then your DPS already failed you and this is merely payback imo :P

When MNK, DRG and x2 blm couldn't kill add fast enough after 30 min try in niddhogg trial.

There were far worse back in 2.0 before SE set up the "quit punishment and Vote Kick" and after as well.

I actually had some Tank players back in 2.X hold the entire group hostage because he did not want to run a dungeon with a new player as he said his "time was more valuable to deal with this **** new player" so he told us to kick him so he does not have to suffer the time penalty for quiting. Some Tanks did completely nothing when they saw a new player and said nothing so the group assumed he/she was AFK but in reality he/she was just sitting there hoping we would kick them for being AFK to avoid the Time punishment.

There was also the time when a Tank actually told us to Vote Kick the New Player because he was new.
