The hero of light just nods and does whatever people want him/her to do.

SE is rushing this whole friendship thing. What makes me friends with minfillia? She's more my employer than anything else.
Let's be honest, our character is a brick. Heavensward gives you some flavour dialogue to give your character something of an individual personality, but like most games, you will always follow a set path. Even games hailed for their "player choice" mechanics, such as Mass Effect, suffer from it. In that game, you'll be BFF with Liara no matter what you do. They certainly could have done more with Minfillia, but whether you consider her a friend or not is when we get into the subjective side of things. I liked her well enough through 2.4-2.55 especially.

I guess the only part I find really annoying is the "running around just to talk" kinda quest. The NPCs are like "oh you're the Warrior of Light, such glory, much strength!" "Save us Warrior of Light, we can't live without you!!" And then proceeds to "nicely/indirectly" get you to run stupid errands or deliver messages that can be done using such a thing called MOOGLE MAIL. Hello? Like you said I'm the Warrior of Light, not your courier/errand girl/lackey/mail delivery service.

Oh and please don't bring Minfillia back into the story. Ever. Don't even mention her in future dialogues. Thanks!

Other than these 2 points, I enjoy the story quite a bit and look forward to patch 3.4 since they're bringing back certain someone's sister! And the Warrior of Darkness, what's their deal! I wanna know! I wanna fight them!

Am I the only person who likes Minfillia? I hope after certain events that have happened she changes a bit and is less damsel in distress because she should and could be a great partner for battles.

No, I like her OK, but I play with Japanese audio, I simply could not stand to suffer the English VAs. Minfillia sounds particularly wet behind the ears, wishy washy and weak in a way that only a thin sounding English accent can convey. There are similar issues withothers, the JP voices fit the characters and the subtitles take care of comprehension.

I think thats the BIG issue with our version. The VOs are very very bad compared to other FF games. I know some have gotten a bit better with 3.0 series but they are still rough. I think if they sounded better and we had better animations in CSs people would feel a lot different towards characters.

Fates are terribly designed and bring no enjoyment when comparing to a game like Guild Wars 2 or DC Universe online. For some reason they don't work in this game. Most of them all you get is a text window on the screen that tells you whats happening in the fate, but no one does them except for level grinding or Forced Amina grind (because they're dead content that no one whats to do so lets make them do it even though they die out a month later). They feel like a burden just doing them. Not once was I ever eager to drop what I was doing and do a random fate. They just sit there popping up in each zone and no one seems to be doing them.

Went back to playing Guild Wars 2 and every time there is a event (fate) happening I stop what I'm doing and run to it because they're really fun to do. As I get there a story unfolds within that event itself. Everyone is shooting/attacking stuff, NPC's are talking (voiced) and I'm having a blast killing stuff. Each event has its own story to it. Whether its a boss event, escort, defend, eliminate or whatever, they're fun to do. When a major world boss comes out hundreds of people flock over to him just to kill it. The hundreds of people that did world events on day one of Guild Wars 2 is still the same number today. The world is alive, players of all levels running around in low lvl'ed zones doing events and what not. People calling out events and people flocking over to them. Mountains, valleys, lakes and caves filled with secrets that lead to loot. exploration is amazing in GW2.

In FF14 unless there is something going on like a hunt or a beast tribe you rarely see people in low lvl zones or high lvl zones. No real reason to leave town, nothing to explore out there anyways.

Dungeons are the same thing, straight lines with adds, adds, boss... repeat. nothing really changed. they die within 4 or 5 runs for me. I dont bother with dalies anymore or running dungeons.
Anima weapon is done, savage is pointless because my gear is ready up to date with tomes. iLVL 230 heck even 220 is probably good enough for 3.4 (why try). logged in just to finish Moogle quest and that's it.

Story is fine, but you loose me when its nothing but text reading (1.0-2.55) with little voice over. I end up skipping most text because I want to get to the good parts of the game.

Its like FF14 is my boss and I have to pay it just so I can come in and do my job, ugh. I might as well pay the games I mentioned above on cosmetics and loot crates/inventory space because at least I'm having fun with those 2.

    Rambling on
I don't hate this game I say its boring and has flaws because I care and want it to succeed. I hope they bring some good stuff in the future. Deep dungeon, if it sucks then I don't have to re-sub until 3.4.
like 1.0 this game is gated so that SE can make money off players while they spend 6 months or more just to collect all the red scripts they need to upgrade their crafting gear. Crafters now are gated behind specialist so that they have to spend more time trying to craft something. Half way to 60 I found out that the new specialist skills that you get are pointless because you can craft anything HQ without them. Haven't used them on any of the lvl 60 crafting items nor the Anima weapon items that need to be HQ.

I get they need to make stuff gated for money/longevity purposes. I know I would stop playing if I unlocked everything right away, but at least make it fun and not boring work. If it was fun then I would continue to play even though I unlocked everything.

I have been playing since beta 1.00
I play FF for story so if it draws me in it's good.
I like a grind. Personally as long as it not the same step everytime. the current relic is nice because there are so many ways to get salt.

I like Difficult content I don't like Stupid difficult content. Back to FFXI days it took 6 weeks for my Static to finish Alex and it was great. I felt like I did something. We did it while it was still 75 cap and rewarding. But when 1 mistake = Fail I think that's stupid.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.

Of the Scion group the only character I actually did like was Y'Shtola. Moebrynda was in the story too short for me to really start to care for her, actually I was more confused when she showed up then abruptly died not too long after. Haucherfaunt felt like more of a buddy kinda guy, someone easy to get along with and he actually got to be part of the story... somewhat. I sometimes feel that if he had to die, they should of held it back longer and brought him into the story more. Ysayle was a death done somewhat properly. She went down fighting for what she believed in like a warrior and forced an Agrias-class Dreadnought to break off from the group and perform an emergency landing for repairs.

Its not like you or anyone else is hindering the outcome like say a person RPing as an ice mage or a bard not using songs.....
You are hindering people by not dpsing.
A bald not using Songs or a mage only using Ice skills are not using all their skills and therefore dont use their Full Potential.
A healer not dpsing is no Different.

Why do people trink healers dont have to dps? Tanks are expected to dps as well. DPS is a Team effort.

Explain to me why a healers doesnt have to dps.
