If there was a drought and I was the only person with access to a large reservoir of water then I could charge the locals an exuberant amount to have access to it and use the exact same logic to convince myself that I was doing a public service just because everyone 'could' and was 'willing' to afford it quite frankly. It doesn't make me any better a human being simply for the fact that I helped them reach their end goals when I exploited their situation to worm my way out of all consequences that came with the initial purchase and investment.
The bottom line is that you can argue all you want about how SE should have implemented a way to easily get a refund(despite the glaring flaws that comes with that suggestion), but at the end of the day everyone who purchased a plot, including myself, knew that there was no such compensation promised following a case of buyer's remorse, and trying to manipulate the housing situation by equating it to a circulating economy within the game is honestly just a devious exploitation of.... and I hate to admit it, a position of power.
I understand that money is a big deal to many if not most people and it's hard to part with an element that has a very high theoretical value, I also understand that many people lack the ability to empathise and accept the concept of sacrifice - but selling a house was always a deed questionable morality, undoubtedly so for cases that try to turn a profit. Not one person was surprised that Yoshi/SE were against this practice when it was finally addressed because even the more hardened of players out there are aware on at least some level that what they are doing is just abusing a system that doesn't exist for a reason and monopolising on the desperation of the richer elites.

There are lots of good ideas here that I will be sure to share with the development team.
