-Sigh- And to think that one of the reasons that made me choose FF14 over FF11 it was because I wanted to avoid that tedious character growth. Now that's ironic!

The dated PGL weapon I'm using does show it's gaining soul, but if it's hopeless trying to kill mobs with it, then there isn't any reason to keep it around in my opinion. I guess I better write down some of the new recipes and start replacing what I can.

Honestly, I'm too upset to keep playing the game right now, but I've read somewhere that your gear can gain soul by killing low lvl mobs, then when full you can extract materia but loose the item; and so the higher the lvl of your gear, the better quality of your materia (bigger stats). I'm not sure about this, so I'll give a try in the next days. I'm really too angry to even think about FF14 anymore.

I often find that a good night's sleep and 2 days later helps to cool off even the hottest anger.

Did people forget that the gear you are wearing is outdated, and not using any new gear or Materia? I guess so.

Materia needs to be done. Stats are rebalanced, gear matters and targets matter.

Why does it surprise you that Gladiator is being gimped before Paladin is released?

Huh, I was really not expecting the previously existing gear to become "gimp" (and please tell me it is only crafted gear that is gimp now!). I thought it would just fall out of favor and general use because:

1) the materials to make it will eventually be all used up, and the game's population is currently quite small
2) c'mon, look at all that shiny new gear! And tell me you still want to wear that R36 velveteen gear at R46.
3) you can make materia out of it, and I'm sure a lot of use are sick enough of some of our old gear to do that

I am beginning to feel like SE gimped my character this patch, and now I have to work at "fixing" her with new gear/materia.

But as always, I will reserve my judgement until I have more experience. Perhaps I have misunderstood the situation, I shall have to see.

Seems like there's some further adjustments to patch on the way... Emergency patch perhaps.
