This. But to answer OP's question its most likely the update. SE wants us to use the materia stuff to buff our gear up so we can attack like we used to. I'm sure we are all going to start out week. Havent downloaded the patch yet but thats my guess as to whats up.

it's a good argument, but my cnj is lv 31, has a lominsan dalmatica, and a gridanian crook, neither of which is exactly weak gear for my level, and yet I can't land a DOT on a wolf that is only 2 levels higher, the only way I can do damage is by spamming my tier II elemental spells, plus the 7~15 dmg I can do with spirit dart.

For all this patch's good points, I have to say from my battle experience so far that SE fscked up in regards to balancing some gear/classes, materia should be something you can live without for awhile, considering the amount of time needed to create it, not absolutely essential to fighting anything at your level.

Come on, guys! This isn't funny at all! Gladiator got downed way too much. And the damn autoblock doesn't always work. Before patch it was quite fun to play GLA, but now it doesn't work neither as an offender or as a tank. It's really weak! WTF!!

Btw, all my gear is quite to rank, I just finished a really easy behest (before I could finish in less than 4 minutes with speed bonus), now it almost took 10 minutes and I barely was alive at the end!!! Just when I was feeling confident as a tanker....now I'm a total wuss???!!

Oh, no~ You can't face-roll through mobs and just focus on xp/hr like XI. I'm sure the devs are crying about how everyone's upset things are harder. Go read the quests and get involved in lore and plot. Go test yourself, fail. Get back up and try new tactics/theories. Go try and get the gear you want, planning what your going to spiritbond > convert > meld, so that you're efficient and bad ass again.

Come on people. Stop complaining, and raise issues. Just because things are difficult doesn't mean it can't be done. If you want instant gratification. Play a GD FPS.
