Estinien's Fate? [SPOILER discussion]

Hrsvelgr (cant spell it) might well come and play a role in this. Helping the humans against Nidhogg. Aymeric will save Lucia, that will sacrifice herself by saving in turn Aymeric from the attack of Nidhogg till will wake Estinian that will be killed by Aymeric himself thinking he was killing Nidhogg all this with the help of all heroes.....So Aymeric will be officially the new Leader of Isghard a solitary one and will be able to work with the dragons and Hrsvelgr to re-establish some peace among humans and dragons.

So effectively Estinian was saved and his soul was redemeed but the cost is the happiness of Aymeric (probably) ....

Uhmm yeah need to think a bit more on this...

I don't want Estinien to die.. He's one of my favorite characters in this game. With much character development in the story. He hasn't done anything to deserve death. He was just as confused as any usual Ishgardian until he realized the truth was real. Then he became a friend. He was even going to take the eyes somewhere safe so no one could lay hands on them(before Nidhogg interrupted)

He wasn't emotionless. You can see him easing up to you, Alphinaud and Ysayle over time in the story. He's actually an interesting character... Was waiting on Estinien + Ysayle, I saw that forming!! But she just had to die..

I really hope that we can save him..He and Alphinaud are the only characters left that I care about in this story. And like someone said, it would be nice to be able to finally save a character and not watch them die. (Yes I am still not over the loss of Haurchefant..T_T and I wont make the mistake again to care to deeply about any of the characters in this game because SE seems to like to kill those beloved characters..)

I want to save him, but it is probably he will die alongside Nidhogg, sacrificing himself to stop the dragon.

This is one of the reasons I see Estinien dying. Aymeric loses a friend in Estinien and in the same person Hraesvelger loses a brother. Aymeric says we both lost someone important to us today, let's remember that and vow not to shed any more blood between us in the future.

Nothing besides trying to use Nidhogg's power to kill you and Ser Alberic during the dragoon quest line. >.>;

And, to be honest, I'd rather him live so that he can make up for that mistake he made, which he kind of does during the Heavensward story, but I'd like to see him find something to live for aside from revenge.

Not like they did kill of the more beloved characters like Moen, Haurchefant, Ysayle..For me we already lost enough NPCs for emotional impact and its hopefully finally the time where we are able to protect someone and not watch them die. (Not that I care much about a lot of characters, since most of my favorite ones are death )

Exactly. Part of the emotional value of having important characters die is it adds weight to when we actually save someone. Do remember hope is an important theme. If we look at the meta of the story, the WoL faces a extremely steep uphill fight to win. We have one of the most advanced empires in the world as an enemy, with the Ascians we have stepped into a war we have practically already lost and even the prophecies are saying we will lose, and our allies are full of flaws and conflicts. Saving Estinien wouldn't simply be about the character himself but the WoL not just taking the fate that is handed out.

We're going to go to Zenith to find some elaborate way to save Estinien, fight Nidhogg, and then none of it will matter, because Midgardsormr will come back... He'll give Nidhogg a time out and tell him to give back Estinien, then Nidhogg will spend the next 1,000 years sulking in his room... The End...

No, but seriously, can some one tell me why Midgardsormr is actively the worst parent ever? He was going to get involved in the war before we met him and he became a minion... At the end of 3.0 he seemed to acknowledge that Nidhogg has gone off the deep end... Why isn't he doing anything about it? He just flew off into the sunset and left us to deal with his sons temper tantrums... I mean, I guess that's kind of the point given Ishgards history, but at the same time I think we all have bigger fish to fry... Ishgard will presumably be very weakened after this, which wont help against the Garleans, and who knows what the Ascians/Warriors of Darkness have been up to while we've been trying to keep Nidhoggs teenage dragon-angst in check... The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil and all that... Thanks for doing nothing, Midgardsormr...
