Not my story, but my friend did a Dusk Vigil on his AST and got a drg who would run into (yes into) the AoE circles every time they spawned. It got to the point where my friend, who is a massively laid back individual, started yelling at them to dodge stuff. They still didn't.

They probably took the joke of dragoons getting buffs if they stand in aoes seriously.

Did you think nobody will notice? Did you think nobody will get annoyed when you kill a bunch of people multiple times?

Today I got bullied in Alex 8 normal. Someone said that I did 600 dps. I almost cry.

At any rate, at that level, most of the tanks don't have much to help in terms of cooldowns, except for PLD.
From the looks of it, you got a newly-unlocked DRK who was severely undergeared and probably at-level too, who jumped straight into Haukke Manor. In other words, the worst breed of tank.

Yeah it felt like they were learning DRK, which of course i'm fine with, i'm learning AST so in no position to throw stones, it was just the no response to my question and the vote abandon that got me :/ how are you gonna learn!? i'd have been fine if they replied and said they didn't have them unlocked yet or something, i'd have just asked them to not aggro everything they can see when we went around the corner...

Yep, the red one is the dark knight's Shadow Wall Shadowskin, but about the blue one, the description sounds more like Grit to me, Mantra's icon just shows a hand. Grit is the dark knight's tank stance which decreases taken and dealt damage and increases aggro, good thing they used at least that one. What they lacked was Darkside (red and black icon, the dark knight has kind of a red aura then), which increases dealt damage and is also a gateway to a bunch of other useful abilities.

Ah I see! Yeah after this run I decided to give tanking another try so if this happens again I can at least give some advice and not just “um… so I don’t know DRK abilities but… do you have any other CDs??” >.< luckily I’ve convinced my bf to heal for me which makes it a little less stressful 

Since I created my account over a year ago but didn't start playing more solidly until a couple of months ago I feel sometimes like I should still have the little sprout or at least when i'm trying out new jobs (I started out BRD & this is my first MMO so anything else takes me a bit to learn the basics!) - I definitely always let people know when I haven't run a dungeon before or even if I've just forgotten boss mechanics.

On another note, had a giggle last night when trying out tanking on the lower lvl dungeons (copperbell in particular) - I know copperbell pretty well now and we had a newbie so I wanted to be one of those tanks that marks the target's order and explains the bosses. Got to the blob & bomb, typed in chat "Does everyone know the mechanics for this one??" (in hindsight i'm gonna phrase that differently next time, don't know if the sprout might've been too embarrassed to say yes??) waited for a min or two then the NIN pipes up with (along the lines of) "don't kill the bomb, make sure the spriggan doesn't kill the bomb, don't die when the bomb blows up". But... I... I wanted to explain I'm grateful for the good explanation but I felt bad for not doing my duty
Either way - don't think the sprout THM was reading the chat anyway as NIN said before the last boss too "ignore the adds" and I said "just focus the main guy and don't worry too much about the others"... he still attacked the adds >.<
