I have 8 retainers! It's not really game-killer as it seems. It helps (with items such as topsoils and stuff, it saves you some time to mine) but it's not game killer D:

Oh, by no means is it the biggest issue in the world, but I do think it crosses a line. More so when you consider it isn't a one time payment, it's an additional subscription... For anyone who knows what they're doing though, it's a very nice bonus, I'm mostly iffy with it because the cost over time is absolutely ridiculous and because some of us are already paying less for our subscription (I can perhaps justify paying for an extra retainer or two because of that Legacy bonus).

I agree they should definitely offer additional retainers for free. When they first announced the additional ones, it was around the same time as the 360 day veteran rewards, and I still think they should have offered an additional retainer for that. Been playing for a year? That extra space is likely going to be useful. Instead they charged for it and our year bonus was what, some disappointing teleport tickets? I'll admit, I overreacted with my language when I got banned over that, but my general sentiment remains the same...

Retainers? They really straddle the line with those IMO, and I'd say they cross it even... Mostly because of Retainer Ventures...

It's what, 2$/30days per additional Retainer? Ventures are not remotely hard to accumulate, so once you've got them leveled you can essentially get what, 4,000G/18h off a Retainer through Allagan Pieces? Lets just say thats 4k/day, that's essentially 2$ for 120,000G.

Well...I get 20 mythrite/hardsilver sands ever hour which sell for 500 minimum up to 1000 each so that's 10k-20k per hour and I play/afk 10 hours everyday, 100k-200k for each day so that's 3-6 mil per month, not that I'm defending the cash shop, but give the retainers a little credit. I do hate being forced to buy inventory space for room though...making me trash my unique items is like a dagger to the heart.

that's the whole point. Retainers aren't cosmetic.
It gives an edge no matter how small to those who have them, and I'd say that time saving is a pretty big deal. xD

I have a massive issues with this. It should be obtainable in game for effort instead of being slapped in the cash shop ASAP to do squeeze more money out of us. I already pay a sub!
Who is actually going to pay for an item that most likely can't be removed once placed (another money grabbing scheme) into a house the can be destroyed?
I understand the argument that it is only a decorative item but I get most enjoyment out of aesthetics and collecting minions and mounts, why should I have to pay more? Also the more that goes into the shop and gets bought the more will end up going in there. You might not care now but sooner or later there will be a line crossed.
Also why is there nothing as nice as this obtainable in game?

That's going a bit far, there's many items I love that are free and available in this game. EG Housing glamour, Dravanian motes, Primal furniture.

Personally I think it's fine but just unexpected.

If they start releasing like lvl60 starter gear for money I'd be a bit concerned. That's exactly what a MMO called "Rift" did months before they went free to play.

I mean, glamours are one thing, but housing is kind of different. This isn't the first housing item to be on the mog station so it's not super suprising (Chocobo lamp code was first I think).

All we can do is watch it closely. I kind of feel that going free to play is mostly bad because it seems it just puts paywalls everywhere and a dive in the content schedule. I don't think that is happening here. Cash shops always kind of skirt that line it seems though.
